This isnt until March so got some time yet, but I am not very girly and look and feel uncomfortable in posh frocks and heels, fadfing about with bags and wraps and such like. Feel like Danny LA Rue but not as glamorous. Could I wear a tux without looking really butch?
Am 50, five foot 7, will be size 14 hopefully, short cropped hair.
I would like a longish frock coat type of jacket...am I nuts?

Ooh. Was going to say no to the jumpsuits but like some of those on the links.
Like the idea of the cigarette trews too.
Thanks all

I have a Ted Baker tux that I've never worn, but I love it. Although now I have a pixie cut, I'm not sure I could carry it off.

I hate the idea of dress, pashmina, bag, shoes too. I'm glad I don't have any weddings or other dos soon Smile.

I think that look is amazing. I am an hourglass so it's not for me but if you are relatively tall and lean it looks fabulous. Fit is essential though. As with men's suits I'm afraid you can't go cheap.

A slightly less dressy alternative would be black trousers, fierce black top with statement necklace or chandelier earrings and a black jacket. If you really can't do heels cigarette trousers and ballet flats or loafers. I think jumpsuits can look really good but they're hard to wear. I fear if you're actually working and wearing a jumpsuit with flats, you might look a little bit.... Industrial.

The right jumpsuit would be infinitely more stylish and more comfortable than trews. this, as a random example, could be fab.

I think it would be perfectly appropriate. As for looking 'butch', depends what you mean. I can imagine it could be quite a masculine look, especially as you're tall-ish, with short hair and wearing flat shoes. There's nothing at all wrong with that, but I'm not sure if it's how you want to look or not.

Personally I usually end up wearing a dress to formal events, despite not being girly at all, just because it seems easier than trying to get a good trouser-suit that actually fits me, doesn't look like work-wear or too informal etc.

(I don't like the green jumpsuit either, but some of the ones linked to earlier were quite nice!)
