Im going to dp's big huge family party (where i know no one but dp's immediate family) in a few weeks and will be wearing this dress

tablet.hm.com/gb/product/18958?article=18958-B

Not very festive i know Grin

I absolutely love the dress and for me its very versatile as can be worn casually too. But im one of those people who is always cold! I need a jacket / cardi to go with it in case the host's house is a bit drafty. Also if i go out to the pub i dont want to have to put my big winter coat on over (as i'll never take it off despite looking ridiculous!)

I'd go black sparkly and shortish, something like this

burnishedsilver · 08/12/2013 20:58

It would be probably be cheaper and more practical to buy a warmer dress than to buy layers to try to stay warm but dressy. It's a very summery looking dress.

MrsLettuce · 08/12/2013 21:31

That looks freezing!

Second going for something warmer. THe skull version of this with a wee black blazer?

lumpolead · 08/12/2013 21:58

I hardly ever buy clothes, and really like this dress so cant really justify my buying two dresses at the mo. Unless something amazing turned up i dont think i can be swayed from the dress! Plus i dont have any sort of jacket at the moment, my wardrobe is atrocious and for the past two years ive made do with the scabbiest bobbliest cardigan which could do with a dousing of white spirit Grin

So your lovely bargain dress would still require that i buy a coat mrslettuce and unfortunately the length would look terrible on me.

I like that jacket gunpowder but on the realisation that i have NO jackets apart from ultra casual duffle types, i think i need a more all rounder purchase.

Im thinking like a leather jacket style in that it can worn in the day and to the pub, but not leather, so i can wear it to this party. Am i asking the impossible here? I really need to destroy this cardigan i have Sad

Also im a blazer virgin Blush think they look lovely on others but theyve always seemed so wrong on me but dunno if im being daft. Help!

lumpolead · 08/12/2013 22:23

Its also a bit summery though - i am clearly living in the wrong hemisphere

That's nice! Now know why you're always cold though Grin

MrsLettuce · 08/12/2013 22:39

Maybe something like this? Not sure of your size.

lumpolead · 08/12/2013 22:48

Ha yes i know. Got a wardrobe full of flimsy clothes and sit in a fleece all day Hmm

I feel so rude but... i dont like that dress for me. I dont think id wear it again, im such a dull dresser! However if someone else was wearing that dress i would give it the thumbs up!

Please feel free to abandon this challenge, im a lost cause Grin
