Dress for 9 year old girl -what would your daughter like to receive?

I don't have daughters so am not used to girl shopping!

Looking for a dress (or outfit I guess) for a 9 year old girl's Christmas present. Would like to spend £20-25. Not a party dress I don't think. She's quite a pink girly girl.

What would your 9yo like?

My fave so far is this m&S top and leggings outfit but am put off by the polyester content. Does it matter for little girls? Wouldn't dress my sweaty son in polyester so seems wrong to buy it for others.

TIA

I don't have a 9yo, but a 3yo who is now in the big girl section of H&M. Their stuff is stunning and can be girly or more stylish and grown up if that's what you want. HTH Smile

I am another fan for H&M. My daughter hated M&S and Next is great for babies, but no so good for older children, except when it comes to nice dresses. Check out these:-

www.hm.com/gb/subdepartment/KIDS?Nr=4294944982#Nr=4294943398

and these:

www.next.co.uk/shop/gender-oldergirls-category-dresses/minprice-0-maxprice-2000 . I especially love the lacy dress, but it's navy, so probably not much use to you.

Personally, my dd wouldn't wear the dress you've linked to, but you know this girl and I don't, so you definitely know best.

Thanks for tips.

I really don't know best, don't know what she'd choose hence v interesting to ask others!

Would you buy short sleeved dresses in winter?

Gap stripey dress
Gap knitted dress but a bit over budget
Gap heart sweater - this with some leggings, or trousers like these Uniqlo ones would be lovely. H&M or somewhere would do you cheap leggings.
Ponte dress but maybe a bit polyester-y
A small 9 year old might fit into this Cos dress?

Short sleeve dresses are fine in winter - it won't be winter forever, and she can layer over a long sleeve T shirt/put a cardigan over the top.

Oh, thank you, hadn't thought of Gap. Like the ponte stripe a lot, and luckily there is actually a Gap v close to my office so I will go in (for the first time!) and have a 'feel'.

I'd look at Zara. My dds (12 and 10) love their stuff. They have fab lace dresses that dress up or down, so much use will be had. I really struggled to pick christmas outfits from there this year, as I love it all.

Another fan of Zara, h and m and gap for kids.

My daughter would get much more wear from a jumper or top and leggings than a dress. She certainly wouldn't wear the first outfit you linked to from M&s , sorry.

My 9 year old chose this m&s outfit and loves it! I wouldn't say she gets sweaty in it, if anything, it isn't very warm! She looks lovely in it!

I liked this from the M and S website!
