What colour tights do I wear with this dress for my christmas party?

I bought this dress second hand (for only €40 so a bargain) and love it on. (That's not me in the pic, it's the person who sold it to me.) It's a very rich teal colour. I have either teal shoes which I've had for about 10 years or a pair of black Mary Jane type shoes. I have large calves so don't want to accentuate them.

My question is, o wise ones, what colour tights do I wear? Which shoes? And how do I accessorise it? I've lost weight this year and it'll be my first Christmas party in years where I won't feel like I want to blend into the background.

Can you do nude tights?

Would that highlight the hugeness of my calves though?

If you get matt tights (i.,e non shiny), these should look ok.

Or you could try sheer dark coloured tights, perhaps a dark grey or black?

I have Primarks micro nude fishnets and they are lovely.

Glad someone likes the dress, HoHolepew. I'm enjoying clothes for the first time in years but I'm only getting used to buying things that show off my shape rather than hide it, iykwim, so I'm not very confident about it yet.

With your new figure, I doubt anyone will look at your calves.

Thanks, MissScatterbrain, hopefully they'll be looking at the waist that I've rediscovered after many years Sadly, the calves are genetic and were there even in my size 10 so they're not going anywhere.

I'll try them all and get my brutally honest sister (she who sat me down last January and said lose weight or you'll end up with diabetes) to help me choose.

Personally I think sheer black tights are v unflattering. I go with nude, or nude fishnets and teal shoes.
