I haven't had one of those in ages. They are fab - nothing like having a nice long shower and slipping into a Kaftan to relax. Gonna have to go and buy another now.

poisson · 17/07/2006 20:14

is there shoppign to be done on hol

SSSandy · 17/07/2006 20:16

I nearly bought one the other day. The one that matched my swimwear and had a sleaker look to it felt scratchy, the other one was lovely and soft but I found it a bit too big and billowy.

Think I will get one though if I find one I really like.

CountessDracula · 17/07/2006 20:20

no nothing like it

buy one out there they are el cheapo and nice I bought mine in the first shop on the left going down the hill in Agios Nikolas or Nikitis or whatever tis called

crunchie · 17/07/2006 21:06

I have 3!!!

One white cotton with a hint of sequins around the neck, Lovely and cool.

2 I got from TKMAXX which are v this season. Loose and billowy but with elastic under the boobs to drawn them in. One is blue/purple paisley, one is lime green and orange (sounds foul but fab!!)

I wear them wafting around the house over a bikini, and over a vest and white jeans for work or weekends.

My kids think I look like a celeb with them and BIG sunnies They do feel really glam, and although not cotton they are v lighta nd floaty they aren't hot at all

hulababy · 17/07/2006 21:10

I have a sort of spiritual kaftan

But if you are shaped like me I think they look awful (and you are, very roughly, shaped like me, aren't you, cod?)

flutterbee · 17/07/2006 21:19

I have one its a very pale lilac colour and cotton, I only wear it round the house and can honestly say it is without doubt the best thing ever for comfort when it is this hot.

I also wore one to give birth in my Mum said wear something big baggy and loose so we agreed a kaftan fit the bill.

I remember my Mum swooshing around the house in one when I was younger she swears by them, I think I may get her a new one for her birthday actually.

Excellent thanks for that little brainwave Cod

womblingalong · 18/07/2006 10:09

God yes,

I long one, cotton, perfect for pottering about at home, and loads of shorter ones, in cottons, esp voiles and muslins, to keep cool - so much more comfy than a vest top or t shirt in this weather. Mine are all from India, so are lovely fine cotton.

puddle · 18/07/2006 10:12

I have a kind of pucci-print one that I bought on holiday last year. I wear it on the beach but have also been wafting around in it in the evening this week because it's been so hot.

It's mid thigh length so quite saucy - not at all like Demis

expatinscotland · 18/07/2006 10:14

i have 4 - 2 of which are traditional informaly dress from Kerala, India, where my uncle is from. Brought as gifts. I've had htem for over a decade and they're still in great shape.

My aunt prefers Indian dress herself, even though she is not Indian. She says it keeps you cooler.

I tend to agree.

None of mine is made from syntethics.

Carmenere · 18/07/2006 10:16

I have full lenght black cotton Jehalib(sp?)that I bought in Marocco. It'a lovely but I haven't wore it much yet. I had another one years ago that I loved though.

MissChief · 18/07/2006 10:17

V American turn of phrase, I must say - "have you something?"? Feeling pedantic today and strangely cross. I think i need words with someone, possibly dh.
But in answer to the Qu, no I haven't. Tho think they're preferable to sarongs - have one of those and found too fiddly kept coming undone at unflattering moments on hol.

poisson · 25/07/2006 14:43
