Mulberry Alexa - have you got one? How well do they last?

Hi
I am thinking about getting a Mulberry Alexa and looking to see if anyone can tell me how they wear?

I'm pregnant, hence looking for an over shoulder bag, so expect it will end up full of crap :)

Thanks

I have one, but although I love the style have to be honest and say that it has not worn well and looks a bit sloppy due to the soft leather.

I have an Effie and that is a lot more durable.

I've got one. It's one year old and aging quite nicely, but the threads on the handle are starting to fray, which is annoying. I still love it though and have worn it a lot so it has been good cost per wear.

I have one. But I also have an Alexa Hobo which I've had for longer. The Hobo has been used far more and has worn better. It still looks new.

The Alexa hasn't worn as well. It just looks used and slouchy. So much, that I've put it away for a rest and gone back to the Hobo. I paid full price for it but they had it in the outlet the other day for £400.

I think the quality of the newer bags is not as good as it used to be.

Not worth the money! I have one i paid £635 last year and its worth £30 seriously.

Its roomy but once you put your essentials in it starts to hurt walking around with it. Stains easily if your thinking of the tan colour as well I have purchased a dkny cross body bag £90 and to be honest wish i would have not wasted the extra money on the mulberry in the first place.

I had the one with the gold bits on, based on the streamer trunks apparently! Love it, it gets lots of compliments but I have to confess its not my everyday bag it's for weekends and trips out. I treated it with Collonil spray and keep it out if the rain. I am a sucker for a nice bag x

I had owned several and currently have two. Of the several I have had, I only used two regularly. I would say that they last pretty well. They hold up well in all weather. I would say that the metal parts wear the worst, it tends to peel and mark or discolour with se. The leather will crease and relax but there are now some 'polished buffalo' leather bags available if you prefer a more structured, stiff look.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 07/12/2013 22:01

Yeah mine is the buffalo leather and it's holding up pretty well.

And as an afterthought, I would advise avoiding any light colour leather alexa as you will get colour transfer from dark clothes and jeans.

blueberryboybait · 07/12/2013 22:07

Mine has just gone back for repairs as the treads have come loose and started to fray after only a few months of irregular use. The gold on the buckles and latch was peeling off within days of using it. I am seriously unimpressed with them. Waiting to hear back from the repairs department.

I ebayed my Alexa, it was looking worn after being used only 4-5 times. Would not get one again.

Thanks everyone. Quite mixed reviews but I guess I expected this. I have a few older Mulberrys and have been told that the quality of the recent styles is not up to scratch.

I saw a few in one of the outlets that last time I was so might try there, one was the croc type print and I have a bag in that leather which is very thick and lasted well. I wonder if that is a good option. I really love the current midnight blue one though...arrggghhh decisions!
