Maxi dress in winter - yes or no?

It's my DH's birthday 'do' at a casino tomorrow evening and I've completely failed to buy something new
I have a maxi dress that I love that I'd like to wear, but I don't know if they're a massive style faux pas in winter - what do you think?
It's dark colours, black and purple with a yellow and orange flame pattern and a v.flattering cinched waist. I'd normally wear with sandals, but thinking plain black heels (they'll be hidden under dress anyway)...

My main problem with long dresses out of summer is footwear but if you have shoes that go with it then go for it.

I'd say no. Soggy puddle dress isn't good. Unless you won't be outside?

i want to dig mine out and wear with chunky heeled boots. Flats would be no good. I don't see what's wrong with dark maxis in winter.. some are sleeved anyway.

This one has a high neck and no sleeves, but I have a black cardi that will go and make it more wintery... Maybe... I do have some lace up ankle boots that could work with it... I think I'll just have to try on and see!!

I see no reason why not. Tights make it warm. Maybe a cardi or scarf if you feel it needs it.

Yes, you just have to wear the right stuff with it. I had a black one on today with biker boots, a cropped leather jacket, scarf and hat
