Whether it's a work party, Christmas drinks, NYE thing - what's your lovely festive outfit of choice?

Need some inspiration...

Thanks pinup. I really am very pearshaped so was being a bit cowardly in preferring a sticky out skirt, but pencil skirts can look good on me if I can find one to fit (I normally have to get them altered).

Gosh I am quite tempted.

Notannabell that Almost Famous dress is gorgeous, especially the raspberry colourway.

i have three nights out so far. outfit choices include

champagne sequin tee with black skinnies
navy embellished dress with opaques and ankle boots
black drapey all saints mini dress with heels
black anglomania dress with opaques and ankle boots (can't wear this with heels, too weddingy)

they are all with different groups of people so may wear one outfit more than once, or one to all three.

OK, I've tried on every dress in my wardrobe (and rediscovered the gorgeous Save the Children fund BCBG sundress I'd totally forgotten about Grin). The Anglomania dress remains the most beautiful and flattering thing ever, so I have to wear that, but it is unlined and I've gained 5 pounds since I bought it so there are thigh / VPL issues.

Talk to me about Spanx people. Please? Are the M&S ones good? Do John Lewis do them? Can you try them on in store or do you have to make a wild guess at sizing, and if the latter do you go for the size you are or the size you need to be?

Red Topshop skirt sounds fab.

I still haven't decided. I wanted to buy something new but have hated everything I've tried on.

I have:

Whistles split midi tube skirt with purple silk Westwood draped top
Black Anglomania dress but I always wear it and it's too big
Whistles mini tube skirt and leopard print chiffon top
Same leopard top plus shorts and opaques
Various heels/ankle boots

Fenn Wright Manson wrap dress.
Joules navy mock wrap dress.
Boden black mock wrap dress.

All of them with black shoes/knee lenght boots and a mahoosive red silk shawl.
They are all very old items in my wardrobe, but I love them.

I'm jealous of all your Anglomania dresses! Which style do you all have?

i have an above the knee navy dress with hearts print on it. the hearts are a reddy/dark pinky colour.

i have searched for some sort of footwear for two weeks. I cannot find anything.

i can't wear high heels. am short.

i was thinking thick black tights for a retro look (kinda me) and thought shoeboots might be the way to go. again i can't find any. i would love some ruby red comfy mid heels for contrast.

Going to end up in a pair of trousers at this rate (which i also haven't got!!) as i have some little kittens heels that are nice. I wanted to look like a girl tho.

Mine was on Friday. I wore Billion dollar baby red dress from Deadly is the female and a black velvet blazer, black tights and black patent heels. Got loads of compliments on the dress, recommended on here so thank you S&B.

This is my Anglomania dress. It's nicer irl, I think - but too big for me, so I can't wear it (and I always flipping wear it anyway!).

Here you go. Looks like a damp dishcloth, so you'll have to take my word for it that it really does look great on.

Lovely. My purple top is pretty much that in top form.

I bought an Anglomania black dress in the sales last year. I was very excited only to put it on and discover that it emphasised my problem stomach area! I am slim apart from that and it made me look slightly pregnant! I was gutted and had to send it back.

Does anyone with an Anglomania dress have a problem stomach but still look good in it? It may be that I needs to try another variety.

I wore this for one do. Not as plain as it looks there, has chiffon sleeves. With black tights and ankle boots.

As I expected then Remus, I think I'd hoped it would have magical qualities and be able to disguise my belly without the need for scaffolding. It was not to be!

To a black tie do. I'm worried it's a bit too much, I've a a feather clutch to match. The dress was £18 at TKMaxx, the feather collar is Biba.

Afraid my stomach is the only part of me that is not problematic, so cannot advise.
