I'd say go for the make it yourself - there is a simpler way.

1. Get some of these.

1. Cut to size and wrap the ends together with black organza ribbon cord.

1. Make a loop closure: maybe a chinese knot or a chunky pretty button or bead. You could make it as simple as this (ref for button closure).

It would be easy peasy.
