It's kinda more like a 'fashion' red than the vibrant copper I was after. It looks nice, but if I'm 100% honest, I don't think it suits me.

It's just leaning towards a more red than copper. Especially ariund roots & hairline. Very bright. I wanted it a nice vibrant copper but its like glowing!

I had a bleach bath first to lift the darkish lengths then a semi. The hairdresser said it shouldn't fade too much. I kinda hope it will! I don't want to be messing around with a semi ash to tone it down, what do I do? Bear with it?

I'd wait and see how it fades on washing, it probe will, red is the hardest colour to keep vibrant.

FauxFox · 05/12/2013 17:46

probs not probe fgs!

Oh I really hate it when you get that fake red colour that no human being has ever had naturally. I know exactly what you mean when you are after a rich copper shade you get the burgundy hue. I would leave it a few days and if it doesn't improve go over it with a semi perm mid copper brown.

Castings Amber should do the trick or schwarzkopf cognac is good too.

I am really happy with my hair at the moment it's a rare thing so indulge me as it's a lovely burnished copper chestnut. I used L'oreal sun kissed auburn and it looks a really natural but vibrant golden reddish brown goes to stockpile

Anyhoo my joy is so much it's the third time I have shared but am amazed that it has actually covered my grey too. Hope you get what you want too on the hair front as it's incredibly frustrating.

burnishedsilver · 05/12/2013 18:38

Head and shoulders might fade it faster.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 05/12/2013 18:41

Red doesn't stay bright red for very long. I'd grin and bear it if I were you.

SantasTessTackle · 05/12/2013 18:46

Sounds like a bad job to me. If I'm guessing right, your colour has grabbed and you've got root glow.

This is unlikely to fade I'm afraid. If you're not happy go back and they should fix it for free.

Thanks for the replies.

I thinks it's just because its quite a vibrant shade, will take some getting use to. I like it but just wish it was a more coppery auburn colour, not so 'fake red'. I know the colour near the roots and hairline will bug me, but I guess I'll see how it washes. It's strange because I'm naturally ginger auburn (I have brown eyes, my freckles have somewhat faded as I've become wiser ;) yet this doesn't seem to suit me as much as dark brown even. Blonde looks absolutely awful on me.

It has probably been dyed a cool tone of red and is clashing with your skin tone.

Dollydowser · 05/12/2013 23:25

Reds fade really quickly, so don't panic, it will fade quite quickly when you start washing it.

HaveAGoodDay · 06/12/2013 10:37

I've washed it today & it has calmed down a just a bit on the lengths but the root area & fringe still look more redder. I'm sat with a vitamin c mix to see if that will lift some of the redness out. Oh god why can't I just be happy with my hair it's been a nightmare these last few months :(

the loreal one spoken of looks good. but if you can bear to go back, go back.

sounds like you needed more prep to the root/hairline areas. maybe the bleach bath hasn't helped those areas and the colour has gripped too much there in the lighter bits.

tbh for a professional job, it's the sort of home dye problem onemight encounter.

sympathies, hair probs are a pita. i just had mine trimmed, and she's chopped in and ruined about a yr's worth of growing.

no point complaining, she can't stick it back on. just won't go to her. I am the biggest make a fuss when something isn't right perosn going, but can't be arsed.

if you can't go back, that loreal looks nice.
