left side - Nars Sheer Glow in Fidji - from a sample
right side - Bourjouis Healthy Mix Serum in 52.
Applied with a brush this morning
no difference whatsoever.

You may see a difference as the day progresses on how well they stay on. Expensive one should last longer - but good to know!

ShreddedHoops · 05/12/2013 11:54

BHM serum is amazing though - I'm wearing it now in 52! Smile

coffeeinbed · 05/12/2013 12:07

I'm aware the wear might be different, and that's why I put it on in the morning, and so far no differnce
Nars looks a fraction more yellow in the bottle, but the same when applied .

Oo I'll be interested to see the results of this!

Oh good thread for me too. I've just run out of foundation and need to pick up a new one this weekend.

I normally use a Clinique one but baulk every time I hand over £24 for it. The thing is I know it is a good foundation, it lasts, blends well and makes my skin look lovely.

I'd love to find a cheaper alternative that worked for me, I'm not exactly flush with money having been on maternity leave most of the year, and now having childcare costs gobbling up most of my salary.

So the BHM serum gets a thumbs up? What other cheap foundations do people like?

SorrelForbes · 05/12/2013 14:47

No7 Lift and Luminate is very nice indeed (and their colour matching process is excellent).

ShreddedHoops · 05/12/2013 15:05

I found the No7 colour matching very poor, they gave me a sample in my matched colour and it made me orange! Then matched my super pale sister the same colour! She went to another branch and was matched to a lighter shade which she bought and is happy with. I don't think their funny scanning gadget is a replacement for an experienced beauty counter assistant who will colour match.

One of the main problems with cheaper foundations is that they often don't go pale enough. BHM does, which is one reason I like it.

SorrelForbes · 05/12/2013 18:31

Hmmm, that doesn't sound good! I've been matched at three Boots with the same result each time. I love YSL and Chanel foundations but just can't get a good match.

SorrelForbes · 05/12/2013 18:31

Posted too soon! I'll have to try the BHM.

coffeeinbed · 05/12/2013 18:58

I'm afraid I have to report I contaminated the experiment.
I observed the wear throughout the day and was happy with both sides.

I wanted to take it off separately to see how much residue there was on the muslin cloth, but forgot and took a shower.

I'm happy with the colour match for me, both work perfectly, Nars maybe is a tiny bit yellower and better.
However, they do look identical once on the skin and the price difference is huge!

Unfortunately I've never found a cheap one that is anywhere as good for me as my Bobbi Brown.

HyvaPaiva · 05/12/2013 20:57

Ooh, I should try this experient with Laura Mercier Silk Creme Rose Ivory and Rimmel Wake Me Up Ivory.

I'm a huge fan of Laura Mercier Silk Creme. However, I've noticed on a few occasions that - after shaking the tube - there's a watery residue coming out with the foundation. I'm hesitant to spend £33 again if it's going to be watery.

I bought Rimmel Wake Me Up really cheaply on ASOS. It looks like it has pink undertones and I bought the lightest shade. I apply with a kabuki so that'll help but, as someone said upthread, the test is in the lasting power.

Drywhiteplease · 05/12/2013 22:39

I agree with Sorrel. No 7 Lift and laminate is fantastic. I've tried a LOT of foundations and this is by far the best for me.

Drywhiteplease · 05/12/2013 22:39

"Luminate"!!!
