....that won't break the bank.

They need to be boots. Any ideas?

Why do they need to be boots? I'd say real sheepskin are definitely the warmest. I have moccasin style with proper soles and they're really toasty.

BikeRunSki · 04/12/2013 19:46

Celtic Sheepskin house boots, although they will break the bank.

BunnyLebowski · 04/12/2013 19:50

I'm wearing these right now and they are amazingly cosy!

Toasty toes!

foxysocks · 04/12/2013 19:50

Mine are bearpaw sheepskin boots from tk maxx. About £25 and so warm,

MissBetseyTrotwood · 04/12/2013 20:05

I'm with BikeRunSki on the Celtic Sheepskin house boots. They are amazing - warm and so, so comfy. I've had mine for 18mo now, worn them nearly every day (morning, evening and weekends) and they show no signs of giving in.

Our house is drafty, floorboardy, tiled and Victorian so as cold as they come and my feet and ankles have been toasty warm.

The break the bank but last.

Nancery · 04/12/2013 20:06

Look at the Shepherd ones. Semi pricey, but SO worth it!

HesterShaw · 04/12/2013 20:23

Thank you ladies. They need to be boots because of my poor cold ankles :)

Listen to me. I sound like a pensioner. I'm only 38, honest.

Matalan have lots of the boot type. I brought these bit they are too warm for me boots (I sleep with feet out of the quilt whatever the weather as hate hot feet)

sassytheFIRST · 04/12/2013 20:29

I always wear fake ugg boots from cheap shoe shops. The ones with hard soles are the best as they are warmest and last better. And you can get away with nipping to the corner shop in them! Tend to pay about £10-15 every couple of years.

HesterShaw · 04/12/2013 20:30

Too hot feet?

North face tent mules, they are down slippers, keep you the right temp all year round without being sweaty. And they have sturdy sole you can put the bin out in. Grin

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 04/12/2013 22:50

Oops. Not boots. Could you wear leg warmers? Grin

MangerMinor · 04/12/2013 22:55

The Celtic sheepskin booties here are high enough to cover ankles if you wear them turned up (which I do), and much cheaper than the house boots. They are so warm - I used to have to wear bed socks, but now the warmth of wearing these means the toastiness of my feet lasts long enough once I take them off to not need bed socks any more.

HesterShaw · 05/12/2013 10:46

Leg warmers? Gosh I haven't seen any since 1983. I'll have to have a rummage.

Manger, those ones are lush!

And they make them in Cornwall too. Zero air miles.

Another fan of cheap ugg type boots. I love the knitted ones, they have proper soles so you can nip outside if needed.

moonbells · 05/12/2013 14:18

Try bhs. They seem to have loads of boot-style ones in this year. I bought my Nordic ones from the newspaper a year ago, one pair for £12.99 two for £19.98 so I won't be shopping for any more for a while.

BanoffeeSplitz · 05/12/2013 14:28

Ancient Fitflop Mukluks with heels so worn down I can't walk outside in them. (They don't leak, just feel uncomfortable to walk far).
So I would vote for the TKMaxx Bearpaws if I was buying again, though they are more for walking on draughty floorboards than snuggling on a sofa as they have outdoor soles.

If not wearing those, I wear Uniqlo fleece socks with thick wool walking socks inside them (TK Maxx again), and maybe legwarmers as well.

Uniqlo socks

Waves to Hester and also recommends north face tent mules & leg warmers...I made some out of sleeves of old jumper. Grin
