What shoes with this dress?

I have bought this dress to wear for our Christmas party but i'm not sure what shoes to wear. The model on the New Look website is wearing sort of ankle boots but I think I'd rather wear shoes.

I can't go bare legged, so I'm thinking black tights, but not sure about shoes. Could I have a different colour from black? I have quite wide feet so anything in a wide fitting would be ideal. Preferably under £30 if possible.

Also what kind of jewellery, etc - I have no idea what I'm doing!

Any ideas much appreciated! Grin

My friend wore a similar black dress for a party last week and she wore red shoes and they looked amazing. Although she wore bare leg look tights not black. A really deep/electric blue pair may look nice too.

I keep wondering about red, what kind of style were your friend's shoes?

I have to say that if you are worried about your legs, they will look longer if you wear black shoes with black tights. I'm not a fan of coloured shoes with black tights - but thats probably because I'm boring! If you want a quirky look then red would be fine. Alternatively, a waist belt could give the outfit a splash of colour. I would have a look in New Look - they have a wide fitting section and plenty of shoes in your price range.

I'm not too worried about the shape of my legs, I just want to cover them up because I have horrible eczema on them! I would normally automatically chose black shoes but for some reason fancied a change. I'm probably having a mid life crisis! But I don't want to wear shoes that attract attention if they don't look right iyswim.

They are a red high heel like these

Hope this link works never done one before!

What about nude shoes, with nude tights/fishnets. Definitely leg lengthening! These ones from clarks are a bit over your budget but not too much, and they come in wide fitting.

oops HUGE link!!

Sorry new to all this linking stuff.

What about leggings with coloured heels?

bekki0504 · 02/12/2013 21:09

You could always go for black tights, then inject some colour with coloured belt and bag? I quite often wear a full black outfit, then have a maybe red waist belt and red bag to break it up a bit Smile
And with that £30 you could quite easily buy a pair of wide fitting shoes from new look plus a belt and bag. I got some gorgeous velvety black platform stiletto shoes from there for £19.99 (they do the same ones in wide fitting too)
And jewellery I would go for some quite chunky, stacked bangles Smile HTH

I do like those electric blue shoes fluffaduck. I think a trip to new look might be in order. So general consensus is that either of these would work:

black dress/black tights/black shoes with a colourful belt/bag

Or black dress/bare leg tights/bright red or blue shoes (or possibly black tights with this?)

And chunky jewellery

I'll see how I get on!
