What is your 12 year old daughter wearing on her feet this winter?

I've just bought dd an expensive pair of black Clarke Boots & I'm not convinced though she says she likes them. I bought her a pair last year that she never wears.

She's wearing converse at the moment but her feet are cold.

She wanted Uggs or fake uggs but she needs a supportive shoe - she is a dancer with an incredibly high instep.

Well I'm not going to be much help as I was going to say uggs :) I've just bought a pair of black leather boots that have some cream sheepskin inside. now I'm seeing similar everywhere on every age. more supportive than typical sheepskin boots although I do find my uggs reasonably supportive as they fit properly.

Black Clarks school shoes.
Fake uggs which she loves, as no effort to put on.
Doc Martens but she doesn't wear them as much as it takes effort to put them on!

School shoes
Red or Dead leather boots (that used to be mine)
Converse
Wellies

Well, DD(14) was wearing black kickers (ankle boots) and she still is! They are very supportive. She often wears socks on top of her tights to keep her feet warmer.

Black suede ankle boots with sheepskin lining and a sort of fake buckle thing. They came from Miss Selfridge and she wasn't keen but they have grown on her. Previously she had Boden fake uggs but they didn't make them this year and she was bored with that sort of look. She would have carried on wearing converse or ballet pumps all through the winter but I feel neglectful if she doesn't have boots!

DMs when it gets too cold for Vans.

I'm glad you've started this thread. We have the same problem.

DD has some black lace up boots but with a zip at the side, which she wears with everything. It's her 3rd pair- you know the type, longer than ankle boots but not knee high.

She also has Kensington Uggs, which are the leather biker style so more solid than the sheepskin ones.

Otherwise we struggle. Both look great with leggings but rubbish with dresses.

school shoes
trainers
converse (?) type things (not sure if I've got the term right - what would have been called baseball boots when I was growing up)
football boots
wellies
walking boots
slippers
some ballet pump things if she's going out

Dublin "River" boots. Worn with jeans, at stables, into town shopping, to school.......we are going to have to chisel them off her feet sometime next April, but they are warm, waterproof, "cool" if that's your style (and its clearly hers), and they were quite expensive, so I'm actually glad that they're getting worn. Black brogues (Clarks) for school, with thick 200 denier tights.

Out of school: Timberlandalikes from Next boys' dept.

SolidGold · 02/12/2013 17:37

Dd 12 wears black Clarks for school and my Uggs otherwise - they were too small for me and she loves them.

Countrywalks · 02/12/2013 17:47

My DD 13 has the short uggs. They don't slop and fit really nicely and don't look shabby. Second winter as bought a little big last year. Worth it !
