Uniform shirt for slender teen boy

13yo ds needs some long sleeved school shirts (to be worn with a tie). Trouble is that he is so very slender: the collar and shoulders of an age 10 shirt fit him perfectly, but the body and sleeves are nearly 2" too short!

Who makes minimum iron, yet not horribly synthetic, slender-fitting school uniform shirts?

I know that any day now he will get his growth spurt, but that 'any day now' could be in 3 years' time. I would rather buy him new shirts when he needs them, than see him going around swamped in fabric. And TBH ds feels the same. (Yes, I know boys aren't supposed to care, but this one does.)

Do the collars get that huge as you size up?

I get M&S shirts for DS(not yet 13!), but as he is as big as his dad, my concern is that he will be too big for "school uniform" shirts next year!

I buy BHS school shirts for my slender 13 year old. The collar isn't as low as some of the other brands.

M&S

ILoveAFullFridge · 02/12/2013 08:38

He is currently wearing M&S!

What about these - they do longer length, so you could maybe get age 11 or 12 and long?

ILoveAFullFridge · 02/12/2013 10:42

The longer length is in the body, So it would probably still be hugely baggy if the sleeves were long enough. BUT they also have a slim fit shirt, which I will try. Thanks for pointing me at them! I always but his shirts from our local diddy M&S, which clearly does not carry the full range as I had no idea these existed.

Ah yes, online is much better - even the Flagship Oxford St one doesn't have much in the way of uniform!

Argh! Online they only have up to age 12! (Reviews do suggest that they never carry enough stock of these shirts.) I've ordered their one and only age12 pack. Fingers crossed.
