Ladies day at Newcastle Racecourse - What colour hat to wear with this dress?

Have bought this dress to go to Ladies day at Newcastle Racecourse for my long lost sisters hen party. I was thinking of an apple green or purple or pink hat then matching colours for shoes etc.. but would love your opinions on what colour would best suit please.

I'd go for white probably to lighten the dress (lovely btw). Have a good time (just up the road from me)

lovely dress, hmm would probably chose a lilac colour hat.

That's a nice dress. I think black or white would go really well, but I guess with that colour dress anything would go with it.

Also if you can't find a matching colour for shoes some wedding dress shops can dye a plain satiny pair to match.

beige would look nice, one of those floppy jessica simpson type things

I'd go black (but I am safe and boring) Nice dress btw. Have loads of fun. I have only been to the races twice and both times at N/cle

from style point of view would advise black but black hats can be v unflattering to undereye shadows so tread carefully. Nice one here if you decide you can get away with it. Something in black and white or black and natural would be easier to pull off - this is nice but pricey.
Plain straw, if a sufficiently formal style could work too, esp if paired with metallic shoes and bag. Of course, if you can find a natural straw hat with gold trim, you're made.

Would avoid lilac or pink myself as 1) they're a bit weddingy and 2) I know neither suit me, and there's something a bit contrived about a more-than-one-colour dress with a matching set of contrasting accessories - better to pick a colour from the dress IMO.

Love the dress btw!
