I've read Caroline's hirons blog. I have questions about toner.

Mainly, wtf is an acid toner? & what's a hylauronic toner?

I get that they have to be alcohol free. I don't have a huge budget either Sad

Personally, I don't find Caroline Hiron's recommendations to be of any use to me but if you want to be informed of the benefits of hyalauronic acid then this is informative

The acid toners are the P50 and Pixi Glow tonic (cheaper P50 alternative) stuff she recommends. The latter is never in stock at the Pixi shop on Carnaby Street so I've given up looking. Can they really be as revolutionary as she claims? P50 is £60 or something but apparently these toners do wonders for the surface of your skin. I have yet to be convinced.

Another acid toner is Clarins Exfoliating toner.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/12/2013 19:24

Clarins sounds more my budget. I could try and get it cheaper off the Internet.

Thank you.

Boots Botanics range have a brightening toner containing AHA fruit acids and does the same as the.pixi glow tonic. It's much cheaper and easier to get hold of. I use it when I remember.

The clarins one is excellent, I use it twice a day as she says, and it might be a coincidence but my skin is much clearer since using it.

Hyaluronic acid - holds water molecules amazingly well, so keeps your face very hydrated and makes it feel softer and plumper.

Glycolic, lactic or salicylic acid - exfoliate skin, getting rid of skin surface to reveal newer and fresher skin, making you smoother looking.

I have Shu Uemura 'moisturizing lotion' which is a liquid like a toner and has hyaluronic acid in it. Love it. I use salycilic acid in my cleanser - a Nutrogena one.

I use the Bravura ginseng one as an exfoliating and at the moment a Lancôme one for hydrating
