Can anyone help my find a nice dress/tunic for my birthday party

I'm not really a glam/sparkly or remotely fashionable type person, and I tend to wear jeans/leggings and a long top/tunic type thing with boots. I have a dress similar to this which I think suits me shape-wise - I like this kind of style but I'd like something a bit more fancy to wear for my birthday. I'll probably also wear it out for our work's Christmas do.

I'm approx 5'8" size 10-12 and budget is £50 absolute max.

Also any ideas for shoes to wear with it - I only have boots at the minute!

this with these would look fab abd brings you in under budget too.

Sorry shoe link should be to the blue shoes rather than black. Kate Moss Rimmel in 111, kiss of life is a good vintage red that should suit most people. Not sure what it costs in the UK but certainly under a tenner.

Thanks - that dress looks nice - I'm not completely sure about the brightness of it but its definitely along the right lines.

OK, more subdued: this and these? MAybe?

MrsLettuce · 26/11/2013 17:08

Slightly less subdued than the last but still plainer than the first: this and these (again).

I like that last dress, definitely considering that one. My issue with shoes is that I tend to always wear comfy boots, or wedges in the summer, so I think with heels as high as that i'm going to be limping half way through the evening! Although they are lovely.

I prefer a lower heel too TBH.

low wedge?
these are nice also in black

MrsLettuce · 26/11/2013 19:54

to. urgh.

Ooh I like those low wedges, like that they're wide fitting too! If I had black dress and black shoes do you think black tights? Don't think I can do bear legs.

Or could you wear a black dress with different coloured shoes? And if so what colour tights? Or would that look wrong?

Yup, you can wear and all black dress and coloured or patterned shoes. I like black opaque tights with coloured shoes or black (if the dress is black or block colour) but others differ and say nude is the only way...
