Please help! I need a dress for my 40th birthday party!

Please be gentle with me - first time S&B poster, and I need your help! It's my 40th in a couple of weeks and I'm having a big party, so I need to look utterly splendid!

For my wedding, I looked exactly like I'd had my 2nd baby 6 months earlier, which I had. I had planned to lose weight for my 40th, but I'm a lazy bugger who loves food and wine too much. So, I'm a size 12/14, happy to do clingy clothes. I have largish breasts and am proud of my cleavage.

So what do I wear? There will be dancing, I'm quite active and likely to get a leetle overexcited during the evening.

My tip would be to go on Asos, and select to just look at their own brand dress. they have so many shapes and you can identify what you think wd be most flattering/most you. Then if you want a more upmarket version/see similar options come back and show us, so we can suggest.

Otherwise you will get loads of people posting the currently ubiquitous high-neck lacey sheaths (which I think look great on 25 year olds and 55 year olds, but less so in between).

Happy to help-which vivien dress did you go for then? I have 5 of her dresses-a halterneck circle one,grace circle one and 3 of the jezebel pencil dresses-I love them and feel amazing when I wear them.

I eventually plumped for the halterneck pencil dress, in pirate print. It's arriving tomorrow and I can't wait!
