Ankle or knee length boots - put an end to my dithering!

I've spent months looking for the perfect grey ankle boots and these were delivered today (thanks LeoandBoosmum for linking to them!). They are oh so lovely. Heel is higher than I wanted but they seem comfortable, look great with skinny jeans and cords, perfect. The only sticky point is that maybe they're too good a boot for everyday wear and are more of a smart lifestyle or evening boot as opposed to suiting a SAHM living in the back of beyond? The suede is lovely but quite soft so not sure how it will stand up to the inevitable scuffed heels acquired while driving?

Just to further confuse matters, I happened upon a 15% off code for Duo yesterday. Oh and saw a pic of someone looking pretty trendy in knee length boots, skinnies and a chunky knit. Maybe a knee length boot would be more practical? So off I went to peruse the Duo website and have seen two boots which I'm going to link to in separate posts because I've lost this one three times trying to copy and paste links.

Any views? I can be convinced either way at the moment! Right, will link other boots in a sec.

Thanks!

Okay, Duo Beaumont - flat, tan. Would they limit me to denim/navy jeans or maybe black jeans too? Too lively a tan to wear with greys, auberges etc.

The Whistles boots are a gazillion times nicer. Gorgeous.

I think knee length boots look a bit passé these days.

And finally, Duo Denver. I thnk these are the boots which Tethers linked too and bought not so long ago. Regardless, they're lovely and perhaps a more versatile colour of tan than the Beaumonts. I wonder what they'd be like worn with skinnies?

Right, over to you ladies! Grin

The Whistles boots are really lovely - keep them.

DaftSkunk · 23/11/2013 20:14

Keep the Whistles ones, although I do like the second Duo pair.

Unanimous vote for the Whistles boots then - great! Want to try them on tomorrow with a dress and knitted tights but think my calves won't carry that look off.

Lady - you've sort of hit the nail on the head there. I want grey boots for everyday wear but wonder whether these are too dressy for that and will fall into the good wear and special occasions category which would make them a bit expensive. I think, if I keep them, they'll be more weekend and the odd weekday rather than constant wear. I do like the second Duo boots and would wear them constantly, I thnk. Can I afford both? Well, maybe the Whistles pair now and the others at or after Christmas - have just had a birthday which has left me with some money to spend Smile. Although, I do have a pair of brown Duo Brindisi boots which I rested last year but might just pull out this week and give them an airing.....

Thanks all.

you can get those for 50 quid then treat as disposable

i have these www.next.co.uk/g592032s13#788998g59

MrsMcGregor · 23/11/2013 21:24

Ah but they're black and £65. Why not spend twice that on a pair I really like, look after them and get at least two seasons out of them? I did check out the likes of Marks etc but saw nothing suitable Smile.

The grey boot is lovely.

But you said they are a bit too high and you wouldn't want to drive in them for scuffing- which I don't blame you as they are expensive.
So when will you wear them?

Bradsplit · 23/11/2013 21:59

Marks have what they call mocha. Are grey. Tbh you like dm buy them but they'll be out of fashion by next year

Bit of long post but have just been surfing net AGAIN myself for some ankle boots!

The Whistles ones are gorgeous boots - look lovely quality suede. However maybe be bit smart for everyday wear? I think you would be lucky to get two winters out of them. Like another poster think knee boots are bit old fashioned now. Did you look at ankle wedge boots? Might be more practical. Monsoon and White Stuff have some I've been looking at tonight. they also have some grey suede heel ankle boots which are half the price of the whistles ones but no where near as nice.

At the end of the day though there is nothing better than a fabulous pair of shoes that go with everything and you feel great in so if I were you keep them and get a more practical pair in the xmas sales.
