Size 12. Short arse. Like mini-ish dreses, ideally with short or three quarter sleeves. Real shops not ASOS etc. Not Vivienne of Holloway etc. Dark colours. Less than £70.

Thank you. :)

I like the skirt, but the top would make me look huge, I think.

I think the top is lovely but also fear I would look blob-ish. I just love the look of the top, the colour, the beads. Skirt is easy peasy straightforward nice I think.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/11/2013 22:44

Will report back on the M&S skirt tomorrow. Thanks for the help, folks.

Thanks, Charity. Deffo want mini.

M&S hadn't got the skirt in stock.

So order it online!!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2013 17:55

:) I HATE getting stuff online. I work full time, so am never in to get parcels, or to send them back. And the 12 will almost certainly be too big but the ten might not be big enough. And it comes in different lengths too - there are just too many unknowns to make it worth faffing with.

Not the most exciting but what about this Phase Eight one here

charitygirl · 24/11/2013 18:37

Oh I know - I use all kinds of tricks to get round the delivery problem. Click and collect is a godsend. I have to say that Phase 8 dress is surely so completely perfect for you. Get it delivered to your nearest store - free, and no hassle.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2013 18:40

Delivery to store is a good idea. Phase 8 no good for me though - it'd be far too long (and a bit frumpy, non?).

OP posts:
charitygirl · 24/11/2013 18:45

Arf - I would probly just wear it very tight to counter frumpiness. But yes, agree length/height ratio comes into play there too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2013 18:56

this with your black silk T?
short but same idea as before
(remember you looking for a skirt with these sort of pleats an age ago although not sure what colour you wanted. Obviously not right for this and you probably wanted non-synthetic, but linking anyway)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2013 19:15

I've got one v similar to the first TS one. 2nd one too little girly looking, I think. Love the third and v similar to what I was looking for (but would depend what the fabric was like irl). Thank you for remembering!

tethersend · 24/11/2013 20:18

Hello!

Do you do velvet?

tethersend · 24/11/2013 20:24

Are you after a dress or a skirt now? Have lost track...

My friend has this dress and it's gorgeous on.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2013 20:33

Sorry, Tethers - don't like either of those. I'd have worn the first one 20 years ago (far too old and fat now). Hate the second one, sorry. No objection to velvet generally though.

Tbh I don't really know what I'm looking for. Dresses are difficult for me, unless they are actually a tunic for normal height people! I am also v short waisted, so waisted things often just sit entirely wrong on me.

This shape works quite well on me, fitted perfectly in a ten and looked nice - but was VERY short! :) Nicer irl than it looks there.

Lady - quite like the Oasis one, but dislike the quality/feel of Oasis stuff generally.

I have in mind something like this or this but cheaper... Right lines or wrong tree?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2013 21:11

Love the first one!

I like this Topshop skirt. Though the 'pelmet' in the name makes me a bit nervous of the length.

Oh and TOPSHOP! Oi, how's about giving us the length of skirts and dresses? It matters y'know.

DMBL40 woman has a blog post on party dresses today. All a tad expensive. Worth a read?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2013 21:21

I've been dithering over the shorts in that fabric for ages. :)

lurkingaround · 24/11/2013 21:34

Ooh! They do shorts in it?? Ooh. Must look.
