Can I wear a midi skirt if I am short and fat?

I am looking for something to wear for a night out and keep seeing those stretchy, midi-length tube skirts everywhere. I haven't had the chance to try one on but generally think longer skirts make me look even dumpier than usual. A friend of mine who is a similar size and shape to me wore one recently though and looked fab, although she is a good few inches taller (I am 5'3", size 16, hourglass but with massive calves).

Do you'll think I'll get away with it? I generally go for shorter skirts, as even though I don't like my legs I think they make me look a bit taller and more proportioned.

Tube skirts are generally pretty flattering - I would definitely try one on. The Oasis knit one someone linked to previously looks like it would be universally flattering.

I just had another look at it - it may depend on where it finishes on your calves. If it finishes at the widest point it may not be the best length for you. Try it anyway!!

I think if you're an hourglass they should look good on you but, as previous poster has said, maybe go for just below the knee rather than calf length

I have that knitted tube skirt - it IS flattering and I look slimmer. Smile

if you're between sizes like me (10-12) get small rather than medium as I feel it'd stretch.

on me a 5ft 5 girl it falls approx IDK below knees but you can hoik up and down.

Friendly - the Oasis knitted one would be nice on you.

BUT I think heels or I have these cute ankle faux suede bootlet things help rather than flats? you don't have to have a massive heel either if you're not comfy in that.

also correct tights etc which flatter (maybe black with slight sheen either sheer or opaque - Top SHop for opaque sheens) really help slim or make legs look better IME.

I think you need shapeliness to the leg from the hem of the midi skirt downwards - so 'massive calves' may actually work in your favour if you can find a good shaped shoe or ankle boot that accentuates your ankle.

(or even one that's shapely enough to give you a shapely ankle if you don't really have one IYSWIM).

A bit of a heel - it could be really quite low as long as it's shapely not blocky, a Louis heel would be lovely.
