Is a salon colour worth the money?

I'm looking into having my hair dyed at my local salon but it's going to cost £65! I love the way they cut my hair so I don't really want to change hairdressers even though the cut and blow is £54 on it's own!

Is it worth the money compared to the £10 I spend on a box of colour at home. Hair needs dying approx every 8 weeks.

Does that include the cut and blow? Or colour alone?

I used to do my highlights at home. DH pulled my hair through the cap of torture, used a packet kit and came out well.

But - I can get a cut highlights and blow for £40 at the hairdresser, with foils and no grumpy DH, so it's costs more but is better value

I have my colour done at a salon and it's worth every penny - I like the way it looks. And you get to read lots of trashy magazines.

Totally agree with PoshPaula.

Home colour is ok now and then but IMO there comes a build up after so many uses and it tends to look uneven just my opinion though. Is there any hair training colleges near you? They use named quality brands but at a quarter of salon prices .
