Sephora have a really good range of make up brushes and nail files. Perfect for you or for stocking fillers

Sephora's velvet primer is the best I've ever had. It ran out saturday and I'm in mourning.

Their individual eye-shadows make my eyes sore though, lanolin?

I've just bought a bare minerals kit from Sephora, I swear by it and it's not too expensive either!

KosherBacon · 20/11/2013 06:29

Makeup Forever Face and Body foundation rocks.

Lighthousekeeping · 20/11/2013 09:22

Bare Minerals is too dry for me.

If they still stock Tarte, then their blush stick (sheer cheek stain stuff) is fabulous. I use blushing bride and its such a lovely flush of colour - have never found anything as good

Kate Somerville goat milk cream, the clarifying toner is nice too

Clinique is really cheap in Sephora. Get a Sephora card - you rack up points for freebies really quickly (especially if you're bingeing on cosmetics like I was!)

Lighthousekeeping · 20/11/2013 12:21

I've lost my card. I hope I'm still on the system from years ago!!

Does anyone know which Clinique blusher my mother is talking about? She said it's been in the papers recently and it's anti aging.

OPI is super cheap in US drugstores.
Sephora do great sample packs, say of six different brand eyeliners r mascaras. Good way to try out really expensive brands.

SunshinePanda · 21/11/2013 20:02

I buy from France not US so not sure on pricing etc. but love their own brand nail varnish and lip gloss. Have lots of on trend nail shades in little bottles. I also use their expert manicure polish in nude shade ( no 19 currently on fingers). Top coats - gel effect is fab and various glitter top coats. Lip gloss is my must have from there as it is so moisturizing.
Allow plenty of time for browsing! Smile Smile

I went to one yesterday after I landed. Not that impressed tbh. It did seem like a small store though.

They have an amazing Uniqlo on 5th Ave. Also, Lululemon exercise gear is much cheaper in the US, especially if on a sale. There are numerous shops in NYC. This may not be what you were thinking of, but Build-a-bear workshop MUCH cheaper in US - outfits $10 instead of £10. There is a megastore on 5th Ave. Try and make it to Century 21 down at World Trade Centre or Nordstrom Rack at Union Square - both full of cut price designer labels esp jeans.

I need to find an old navy and large Levi store

JustAWaterForMePlease · 23/11/2013 12:23

Massive Old Navy on 6th and 18th. There's also one on 34th, just next to the ESB (not sure where you are). In fact, there's a Levi's on 34th as well.

The best Sephora (IME) is in Meat-Packing - on the corner of Washington and 13th (I think!). It's great for stocking fillers and they have these rollerball perfumes that are $20 ish and perfect for handbags.

I tell you, Victorias Secret has got so tacky! Haven't bought a thing for myself. Got my mother sorted at Loft. My nieces at the Ugg shop and that's it! Flea market tomorrow.
