got my top delivered from Laura Ashley and it is gorgeous, took it out of its wrapper took off the tags and hung it up ready for my night out at the weekend. Anyway dh asked to see it late last night showed him it and as i was putting it away (its a chamisole with a lovely net/lace top over) i noticed on the V it has a tear in the net pissed off coz i'm not close to a shop to return and had to pay 6.50 for postage and i'm certainly not paying to send it back. I don't think i was meant to have it is there any way i can fix it?

you could take it to the dry cleaners, who may be able to do some 'invisible mending' what a pain!

TheLadyVanishes · 12/07/2006 09:07

ooh whats invisible mending?

i don't know really! my mum was always taking things in to be mended invisibly! i suppose they just do tiny stitches

MrsBadger · 12/07/2006 11:53

or they use that magic bonding powder stuff you see on QVC etc

jampots · 12/07/2006 12:01

surely if it was ripped then they should pay for returning it and replacement

poisson · 12/07/2006 12:02

id ring up and say it has arrived damages

SoupDragon · 12/07/2006 12:15

Ring up and get it replaced! It clearly arrived damaged.

Tutter · 12/07/2006 12:16

are tags still on? if so, definitely don't try to mend - ring them - they can get a new one to you by the w/end if they try hard enough.

Tutter · 12/07/2006 12:17

oh bugger noticed your tags comment

still worth a go i think? they can normally tell if it's been worn...

SoupDragon · 12/07/2006 12:17

Most places are really good about damaged/faulty items. Emma Bridgewater sent me a replacement teacup/saucer and told me to keep the original (I was sent a second(ie faulty) by mistake)

SoupDragon · 12/07/2006 12:17

Doesn't matter if the tags are on or off. It's faulty!

poisson · 12/07/2006 12:17

yes rign up and soudn all folorn

geekgrrl · 12/07/2006 12:18

yes, I think it's perfectly understandable that you removed the tags before spotting the tear. I'm sure they'll be fine about it and send you a new one.

JonesTheSteam · 12/07/2006 12:21

DH bought a jumper from M&S, got home removed the tags, went to hang it up and realised that there was a small hole in the front. He took it back with the tags in the bag, not even attached and they accepted it back without any problems!!!!

Just ring them and explain. It's their fault it's damaged.

TheLadyVanishes · 12/07/2006 12:53

ok rang them and explained, I now know i was not meant to have this top as they don't have anymore of my size in stock hey ho i will be returning it friday and going to the store dh wallet about to take a hammering.
