have shoulder length fine hair but loads of it.
having it cut tomorrow and am tempted to go for something like this
what do you think - has anyone got a similar cut?

I am after quite low maintenance,my hair streaky grey and I am 47.

The longer ones are ok but the shorter ones are very dated. A bob really isn't low maintenance in my opinion.

ineedanexcuse · 19/11/2013 20:23

If you are the type who is a regular at the hairdressers then yes go for it. This style needs to be supersharp to work properly so less than 4 weekly trims would not work I dont think.

You also need to think about what happens when you tire of the style . Would you be happy to go for the really short bob and let it grow for example?

BunnyLebowski · 19/11/2013 20:25

Very very dated.

LittleNoona · 19/11/2013 20:25

3 down 5 across is gorgeous - but not very low maintenance unfortunately. I love love love the very first one too - if only I didn't have such a fat face Confused

nilbyname · 19/11/2013 20:26

Nay, really dated looking. Next you will be telling me your dying it a funky plum colour.

MUM CUT!!

statisticsthicko · 19/11/2013 20:30

I have a longer version of a graduated Bob. A bit like gwyneth paltrows a few years ago. Bollocks to it looking 'dated' I like it and it suits me. If you think you'll suit it, go for it.

out2lunch · 19/11/2013 20:32

ooooooo dated was the last thing I thought of :)
I assume it might be too out there for me
I think I will go for it

thanks for your replies

I think it will look very 'try hard'.

PrimalLass · 19/11/2013 21:43

I say nay to assymetric, but mine is graduated down from back to front and I love it.

ggirl · 19/11/2013 21:46

nay

fliedpiecatcher · 19/11/2013 22:24

I've just had mine cut into a long A line bob from shoulder length because my hair is so thin now and brittle and putting it up all the time wasn't helping. DP says he thinks it suits me far better like this and it certainly makes my sparse locks look as full as they are capable of looking. For me I don't feel I have that many choices due to the thinning and I'm beyond caring whether a cut is fashionable. If something suits you and suits you hair then I'd go for it. Just don't dye it a funky red :)

out2lunch · 19/11/2013 22:29

oh no don't worry about that - no red dye here

OP posts:
BunnyLebowski · 19/11/2013 23:27

Good advice. I don't think red would work on hair that isn't young, thick and luxuriant.

ninah · 19/11/2013 23:33

mine's a lot shorter - have you thought pixie? I like Helen Mirren's style right now, too.

OhSodOff · 19/11/2013 23:36

No. I had one, it was a bastard. You had to have a cut every 4 weeks. And you had to style it. You couldn't leave it as it would look ultra frumpy.

I think it is the uber new mum haircut circa 2006 anyway.

OhSodOff · 19/11/2013 23:37

Don't have that spiky rec ghastly Sharon Osborne cut either. She is responsible for lots of awful styles.

Eastpoint · 20/11/2013 06:49

I have wavy hair & found it v hard to blow dry smooth enough. How good is your hairdresser? Can you talk to them about what they think would suit you & your lifestyle?

GideonKipper · 20/11/2013 09:28

If you've got grey streaks then do a Judi!

Asymmetric bobs are long gone Wink.

GideonKipper · 20/11/2013 09:34

Love this style

dexter73 · 20/11/2013 09:43

That is a lovely haircut Gideon. I'm not keen on anything asymmetric. It would do my head in having hair that was longer on one side than the other!

YoucancallmeQueenBee · 20/11/2013 09:46

I cannot help but think of Phil Oakey from the Human League & Posh Spice every time I see an asymmetric bob.

Not a look I'd be rushing to get but I'm sure it works for some people.

FaddyPeony · 20/11/2013 10:08

Karlie Kloss best bob ever

although

You can see that it looks a good deal flatter when not all plumped and tousled with product, like this

LeoandBoosmum · 20/11/2013 13:07

I hate any haircut where one side is shorter than the other... I think it looks awful, like the stylist must have been a little inebriated!

out2lunch · 20/11/2013 14:28

faddy my hair is just a longer version of karlies now

I am a bit excited about having my hair done this evening
