I hate 3/4 length sleeves on dresses

I hate 3/4 length sleeves. It's bloody freezing. So why put 3/4 length sleeves on any winter clothes. If ypu put on a cardigan it ruins the look of the dress. Manufacturers I just don't get it. It's winter, we are nearer the Arctic than the Equator fgs.

"they actually do make you look thinner."

I don't need to look thinner. I have skinny wrists and 3/4 length sleeves make my long thin arms look longer and thinner Sad. A look I don't need.

Snog · 20/11/2013 06:42

They are very unflattering to me. Elbow length is my favourite or full length.

MistressDeeCee · 20/11/2013 06:48

Can't stand 3/4 length sleeves. & midi dresses

Just be long, or short but not in between please...

steeking · 20/11/2013 06:54

I hate them. I have long arms and they look ridiculous on me.

IHadADreamThatWasNotAllADream · 20/11/2013 07:01

I like them (short arms) and I can't remember ever thinking "gosh the rest of me is toasty warm but I wish my wrists were warmer"

Cucumberscarecrow · 20/11/2013 07:49

I love 3/4 length sleeves but I have short-ish arms.

MelanieCheeks · 20/11/2013 08:01

Oooh, I love them! But again, another petite here, so full length sleeves hang over my fingers.

Where are they too cold? In the house or the office the heating is on (my problem is more usually being too warm)

And a dress-with-a-nice-cardi is my standard office outfit.

PrimalLass · 20/11/2013 08:04

I like them. It's not that cold, surely?

DembaBa · 20/11/2013 08:44

I like them on dresses. Full sleeves are quite hard to pull off on a dress. 3/4 more flattering to a variety of different arm shapes Grin

Agree with jumpers, though. Theyre supposed to keep you warm!

Bunbaker · 20/11/2013 18:34

"It's not that cold, surely?"

Erm, yes it is. We have fierce air conditioning on at work and I don't heat our house to tropical temperatures so I wear long sleeves at this time of year unless I am cooking/washing up, because when my wrists are cold the rest of me is. Gilets and bodywarmers are, for me a complete waste of money, because I need to be warm all over to feel comfortable.

polyhymnia · 20/11/2013 18:59

I really like them, except when it's absolutely freezing. Don't really like the feel of anything flapping over my wrists!

Bunbaker · 20/11/2013 22:56

My long sleeves don't flap over my wrists. They stop at my wrists.

JemimaMuddledUp · 21/11/2013 07:46

Long sleeves rarely reach my wrists (I have long arms) so I prefer sleeves to be deliberately short than an inch higher than where they are supposed to be.

MrsKoala · 21/11/2013 08:47

I dislike them. I think they just look as though your clothes have shrunk/arms have suddenly grown. An ex told me once i looked like the hulk post Angry in one i owned as it looked as tho my arms had burst out of it - cheers!

I have long arms and things which are full length draw less attention to them. 3/4 length on me look as tho it is full length and i am just an orangutang Confused

MelanieCheeks · 21/11/2013 10:25

Can I recommend Mary Portas "Armoury" as instant long sleeves to wear under short sleeved things?

CMOTDibbler · 21/11/2013 10:44

Wingz are much better than Armery imo as theres no back, they come right up to your armpit, and come in lengths/sizes so they fit well. I have several pairs and wear them a lot, esp with 3/4 sleeve things

MarianForrester · 21/11/2013 14:11

Grin At mrskoala's "hulk" post

I hate them too. I feel cold, and my greyish white winter forearms with their frozen crone like hands are not a good look.

In fact, winter or summer, I hate them. I like my sleeves down right over my hands. Comforting and cosy.
