We have been using clippers for years. We recently got some very heavy duty Wahl ones after DH took the old ones to pieces to clean and couldn't put back together again!

We did have rechargeable ones before, but they lose battery and run slow which can pull on the hair and be uncomfortable. So I would recommend decent quality corded ones. I think we spent about £35 on ours but with two boys and DH it's worth it.

These are the ones. Really good.

mine are
these ones

have to say son has the thickest hair of anyone ive ever known and they glide through like butter! used them cordless for DS and then DH and battery power seemed very good.

I'm impressed you could shear with a wardrobe vicar!
