Warm casual coat for husband

Jellibotti · 17/11/2013 21:08

Help please!

I want to buy my husband a warm, casual coat for Christmas. Not of the shooting jacket variety, nor overly trendy. Something warm enough to watch my boys playing rugby in, and suitable for a 42 year old clinging on to his youth. He's only 5'10" and quite well padded as it is, so I think puffas are out of the question.

I'm willing tonspend up to £300, but would rather it was less than £200. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks very much.

Im allso looking for coat for dh. Nearly posted similar thread title but am looking for something verging on smart.

Have you tried north face down jackets don't have to be bulky & are vvwarm £300 should cover it. It'll last him years so no need to scrimp to £200. They do nice black parka types. Or slightly more outdoorsy coats for climbing and walking etc but just as good for rugby watching.

Target dry are meant to be great & cheaper than NF.

Watching with interest.

Also watching with interest. I love the idea of a load of unknowing husbands and partners wearing a 'Mumsnet' coat Smile.

My dh has the regatta insulated coat he wore it for football yesterday and had to take it off as he was to warm init and it was really cold here.

Sorry I can't do a link but it on eBay it was £40 very impressed Grin

AnnThology · 18/11/2013 07:20

You want a north face one. Ooh yes. Perfect

IsabellaRockerfeller · 18/11/2013 07:30

DP has a northface one, it is so warm. TK Maxx often have nice man's coats in.

sebsmummy1 · 18/11/2013 07:32

I bought OH a Superdry puffa jacket with hood and he totally loves it. Think it was about £70.

coolkat · 18/11/2013 07:45

I've ordered my DH the Superdry parka coat. £150. Smile

Fjallraven winter coats are great. Warm and waterproof.

dottypyjamas · 18/11/2013 12:22

My dp just bought this one www.prettygreen.com/shop/product/aw13-navy-borg-lined-fest-jacket/

It's lovely on and is fully lined

dottypyjamas · 18/11/2013 12:23

Oh boo link fail, sorry! www.prettygreen.com/shop/product/aw13-navy-borg-lined-fest-jacket

Trying again!

IDugUpADiamond · 18/11/2013 12:46

I think Aigle are a great alternative to North Face and they don't have a visible Logo (per hate of my DH's)

Suddengeekgirl · 18/11/2013 15:12

Dh has a rushmore. It's under £100 here. :)
Warm, waterproof and almost bum covering. Ticks all the MN boxes Wink

Jellibotti · 18/11/2013 19:59

Thanks very much, am off to look them all up. I did wonder about North Face, but as the boys have them, they may look a bit like a matching set!

I'd forgetten about Aigle, good idea as my husband also has logophobia.

Will report back...

The pretty green coat is nice.

I saw a bloke at Manchester Piccadilly this morning wearing a duffle coat. He looked great. Really. It was a shorter length than usual, and was 'greige'. I almost stopped him to ask where it was from so that I could make my husband buy it.
