  1. If I'm wearing it on a night out, what top do I wear with it? I would like to show some cleavage, as the 'pencil' bit of a leather skirt isn't quite pencil, iykwim.

The last time I wore a leather skirt on a night out I was early 20s, still gothy and wore it with either fishnet or a basque. That's not quite the look I'm aiming for in my 30s.

  1. Is it ever ok for a teacher to wear a leather skirt to work?

Likewise, bought the next faux leather version which I live
N but struggling to decide what to wear it with.

Ideas so far- blouse type top- do you read the 40bum lady blog?? She had some ideas recently including a black warehouse one.

Otherwise black polo?? Safe though ok for daytime.

I second the silk shirt suggestion. Not white or you'll look like a waitress. Leather skirt OK for teachers provided it's knee length and is worn with opaques and a not-too-clingy top half. Only thing is, they don't half crease so buy with caution!

I don't see why teachers can't wear leather skirts for work. But I wouldn't do cleavage with it, I wear mine with silk or chiffon blouses.

I also bought the Next brown pleather one. I've been wearing it with a chunky mustard shorty jumper during the day and have worn with a thinner knit at night.

See, shirt and skirt seems like work clothes for me and I want to make a clear distiction between work and going out - especially as I never go out.

I think I still see leather and pvc as fetish gear!

Are you sure I can't do cleavage? The skirt isn't particularly tight and I'm only just getting my cleavage back after dc2, although it's gone a bit south

Cleavage and leather is definitely headed towards fetish.

How about a sheer shirt? Knitwear will look amazing though.

Astr0naut · 17/11/2013 20:41

But surely knitwear will be too hot? It's only a bit of cleavage. I've not been left with much. It's not shiny leather either, if that knocks the fetish level down a bit. It was sale-item from Wallis 2 years ago leather, so verging on mumsy.

I think a cami style top would be fine for evening.

Cleavage and a leather skirt is in danger of heading into Liz McDonald territory.

A lot of the looks I've seen on pinterest have been a leather skirt with a chunky knit for daytime.
