I've just home-ombréd my hair

And it looks great.
Really subtle (I wanted a subtle look, only left the dye on for about 18 mins instead of the recommended 20-45).
Was totally easy to do.

Am feeling smug. Had been toying with the idea of forking out to get it done at the end of the month when I get paid. The packet (L'Oreal) didn't even cost me anything -- was able to pay for it with Boots points!

Happy days.

what is your original hair colour?

FaddyPeony · 16/11/2013 22:48

Erm not sure, medium brown but have dyed ir a bit darker for years. The kit I bought was for light to dark brown hair.

Did you put it into two bunches before you put the dye through? I'm thinking of trying it but I want the colours to blend together seamlessly and not look like two blocks iyswim (like some do on Youtube).

Dillydollydaydream · 17/11/2013 04:34

Ooh I've been thinking about trying this for a while but was a bit worried it would look awful. Tempted to try now.

Yes two bunches thing. My advice is to go lightly to go lightly the first time you do it and don't leave it on long. You can always buy a second pack and do another application if it's too subtle, it'll still come in well under twenty quid!

We need a pic please!

apple It helps if you gently backcomb along the length of your hair where you're applying the dye. I've done it at home a couple of times now and that really helps to blend the colour rather than having the 'blocks' effect.

FaddyPeony · 19/11/2013 12:24

Sorry just saw this. Noooo am not brave enough for a pic I'm afraid Grin

I probably will have another go in the next while - I like the effect but I think I was too cautious and could go a little higher with my ombré-ing the next time.

Of course the side-effect is that the bleach makes the ends dry, so have to keep them well conditioned.
