Slim trousers just don;t fit/suit me

My waist is my best feature - my thighs are not. I'm 5'7" and a size 8/ in anything that doesn't "fit" around the thighs (eg pleated trousers or full skirt). To get my thighs in anything slim fitting (skinnies/pencil skirt) I need 14 and then of course the waist is far too big. Even if by some miracle I found some that fit, they don't suit me.

So,what can I wear when for example, others would wear skinny jeans on a night out? I have boyfriend jeans for casual which are great but can't be dressed up in the way skinnies are iyswim.

Also what is my alternative to slim fit cigarette trousers for work etc?

Thank you

This is by no means a bad thing, but maybe trousers just aren't for you?

Maybe you need to embrace dresses and skirts?

For work, what about shift dresses, with long-sleeved tops or shirts underneath? Wrap dresses, that accentuate your waist? Pencil skirts that do the same thing...? Full skirts, a la Forever Amber.

Nights out - again, I think it comes down to dresses, rather than trousers, which obviously isn't as convenient, nor as easy to shop for.

Most people's bodies, for one reason or another don't tend to fit off the peg clothes, but unless you can sew, there's not much you can do about it, other than avoid problem clothes. Or, of course, get someone to adjust any trousers for you. :)
