transitioning to natural hair colour.. but wavering!

My mid brown-with-highlights hair is about 3 months post last colour. I had 10 inches chopped off into a bob(which I like) and I was planning on going natural.
I have a grey streak at the front and quite a few scattered ones..mostly under the top layer of hair.

I really thought I was ready to emrbace my grey as I am fed up of colouring but... I now have about 1.5 inches of white roots at the front and I'm not sure I can cope!! I will be fine when it's ALL white but the change in colour shrieks 'look GREY and she hasn't sorted it!'

How do I get through this phase?! I really want to persevere..I can always colour it again if I really hate it but I want it natural first!

There really is no easy way. All kinds of advice will be given by all kinds of people. Usually some form of highlighting or lowlights will be touted.
I tied mine up or wore a hat, but I wore hats anyway so it wasn't a great change for me.
Some days your head will feel like a glowing beacon that you feel everyone is noticing but they really aren't. The transition can be emotionally rocky but it is only a transition and soon it will be back to natural and a new kind of gorgeous.

I feel your pain, posted a similar comment not that long ago!
Instead I went to the hairdresser and had a bleach bath, which sounds worse than it is. This stripped a lot of the darker colour out so that now the roots are not so obvious. (I was going from dark brown to almost entirely silver.) I'm still waiting to be fully tint free, so I don't know if I will stay with the natural look, but at the moment I am definitely enjoying feeling a bit more authentic!
A few conditioning treatments from the supermarket have sorted out the dryness from the bleach btw.

I'm doing this now. Have been highlighted for 25+ Years and have decided to return to my light "mouse". I was whitey blonde as a kid and teenager but it got darker and darker as I grew up. I don't have any grey yet (now 51) so, it seems strange to look in the mirror and just see a darker version of me. My hairdresser has been a big help. She put my own (mouse) colour through the highlights about 6 weeks ago to lessen the roots and make it more bearable. And I've told her, if I come in and ask for lighter locks and 4 inches off, to send me away! Smile

You just need to be strong and persevere. My hair is now shiny and "fits" my complexion better. I found that the lighter my hair got, the more blush I'd use, to prevent looking washed out. I feel great now, like everything has been toned down and looks more natural.

I have a long way to go with getting some length (I had a Pixie done last March) but it's now in a jaw length bob and feeling good!
