White Jeans in Winter - Yay or Nay?

Never been quite brave enough myself and have retired mine to the back of the cupboard until the sun comes out next summer. However I've seen a few picks of them worn with boots for a winter look recently, which has piqued my interest...
Is it only celebs who can get away with this, or is there any way I can squeeze another season out of mine? If so, what would you pair them with to make it work?

I think yes. In fact I'm going to wear mine this weekend with black biker boots.

HappyGirlNow · 13/11/2013 21:29

Yay, cool with tan boots..

womma · 13/11/2013 21:31

Yes. If you are Liz Hurley.

KosherBacon · 13/11/2013 21:32

Nay. But then I say nay in summer too.

foxybingodotcom · 13/11/2013 21:35

No white jeans after labour day!

Botanica · 13/11/2013 21:35

OK, so a mixed response so far...
I am being unduly influenced by pictures like these with cosy cardigans and warm woollies... (first time adding pictures, not sure if it will work).
Unfortunately I'm not quite Liz Hurley, but am tall and dark so maybe from a distance after a good few drinks...

Your pics are great Botanica Grin

SpencerPercival · 13/11/2013 21:48

the pics are a red herring - I LOVE white jeans but think they look naff in the harsh winter light

or just like a sloane who doesnt know what month it is

SpencerPercival · 13/11/2013 21:49

second pic - you could put her in clown trews and she would look nice

Curioustiger · 13/11/2013 21:53

I really like them. I am working up the courage to buy white jeans (I do not presently own ANY jeans .. not a single pair... this is a big big thing for me). But I think they have a cool Scandi wintry look about them with a big scarf that I like. Unfortunately I do think you need to be slim. (Hence why I am working up the courage as I'm not sure I'm there yet). But if you are, go for it!

Botanica · 13/11/2013 21:57

I think to pull it off you definitely need a drop dead gorgeous accessory (scarf or bag) and a certain nonchalant air of confidence...

Yes. Actually looking at those lovely pics, I think the key I'd that the jeans are a neutral backdrop (like black leggings or whatever, not that I ever wear leggings) and therefore the accessories, bag etc shine. It's that off duty model look. Which unfortunately is quite expensive to recreate.

Botanica · 13/11/2013 22:01

  • indeed, hailing a cab everywhere is quite a different matter to than risking chewing gum on tube seats and bus drivers delighting in speeding through muddy puddles right next to you....

Key IS that. FFS.

nurseneedshelp · 13/11/2013 22:03

Nay.

Financeprincess · 13/11/2013 22:07

I say yay, provided you can cope with the mud splashes and also provided they are not worn with heavy black boots.

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/11/2013 22:11

I adore white jeans. I really do. But not in winter.

Those photos also all involved scarily high shoes which isn't a wearable look for most people.

CointreauVersial · 13/11/2013 22:46

Yay.

I intend to wear my Pear Drop (yellow) Boden skinnies through the winter too. Nice with navy.
