Products for toddler with very curly hair?

Hi all,

DD has very curly hair which I now realise I need to learn how to manage. It's starting to look a little mad! We only wash it maybe once a week as per some advice I found online.

Anyone know what shampoo and conditioner is best to use? It needs to be natural. Is a leave in conditioner better to counteract the natural dryness??

DS has very curly hard to manage hair and he hates having it washed. We just use Johnsons detangling shampoo and detangling leave in spray conditioner. L'Oreal no tears leave in kids conditioner is good too.

We avoid sls and silicones as suggested by the curly girl method and DDs super curly hair is now more curls less big birds nest of fuzz!

We're using bodyshop rainforest moisturising shampoo, conditioner and hair butter. I never brush it dry (squirt with spray every morning) and gently scrunch in my hands to encourage the curl.

Thanks so much for the info ladies!

jennimoo - I knew I needed to avoid certain ingredients so thanks for the reminder. I think I'll try the rainforest range - it has such good reviews. Thanks also for the idea about spray and scrunching the morning. I'll try that.

Is the body shop one ok if it gets in their eyes. Ds2 has a big mop of curly hair too.

I spray and scrunh my DS with the vosene nit repellent leave in conditioner, not that I think the nit aspect works, but it smells very fresh as it has tea tree oil in it and has worked wonders on his curls and keeps them looking nice all day Smile. Wondering how long he is going to let me do it for though, currently 2.10!

We use the mixed chicks range in our house. The leave in conditioner is a particular favourite. Spray and scrunch is essential. Although when I'm feeling lazy we might have a few days of plaits.....

Lunar1 - DD hates her hair washing but of it's ever gone in her eyes she hasn't complained...
