Long down coats (e.g. Boden Stockholm) will I look huge and drowned? Am short

As the title says. I am short 5ft2 and have my eye on the Boden Stockholm coat but am worried it will drown me and look bulky. www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Coats/WE413/Womens-Stockholm-Coat.html

I have a shorter similar jacket which is fine but my bum is my biggest part!

I'm a 10 ish.

Alternatives to the Boden one welcome if they will look better.

It has a belt which helps minimise the bulk. Returns are so easy with Boden I would just order and try it. There is 22% off at the moment.

What colour where you thinking off getting?

MrsRogerSterling · 12/11/2013 19:32

Of getting not off .........

Sympathywherehaveyougone · 12/11/2013 19:59

Ordered it. What the hell, I can always send it back as you say.

I'm 5ft, size 6-8 and have a knee length one from Lands End. It is belted at the waist and I don't think I look huge or drown in it. Warmest coat I ever had.

Financeprincess · 12/11/2013 23:30

Somebody I know has a gap full length down coat. She's 5 ft. She calls it 'the quilt' and TBH it looks like one! The Boden coat looks like a better length though.

Financeprincess · 12/11/2013 23:31

Don't know where the word 'gap' came from. It's a full length down coat of unspecified provenance!

Loopyloulu · 13/11/2013 07:59

you might but what the heck- you'll be warm. I have one which is belted and TBH I only wear it when it's freezing or snowing and I'm past caring how it looks.

Sympathywherehaveyougone · 13/11/2013 09:43

Will report back as it is on its way!

I did favour Lands End slightly as they do a petite size in their down coats but Boden seem to have an easy returns policy. If the Boden one isn't right for me I might look at the LE one.

I have the Lands End petite one (Modern Down I think it's called) and whilst I FEEL like it makes me look like the Michelin man, I've seen a photo of myself wearing it and I don't look like him (phew!)
I got mine when there was a 25% off code, they do have codes quite often

I am 5ft 2 and a size 12. Got my boden Stockholm today and it's a bit snug so sending it back for a14. Hmm It felt mega cozy so a bit disappointed I've got to wait a bit longer for it.

Sympathywherehaveyougone · 15/11/2013 19:51

Mine arrived too. It is a little snug round my bum but just ok.

I caught the stitching of the buckle on the belt sticky out bit (not a technical term I'm sure) and a stitch came away so I'm worried that will get worse. Anyone think I should send it back?

OP posts:
Sympathywherehaveyougone · 15/11/2013 19:51

Or maybe that's just my fault and there's nothing wrong with it?

OP posts:
Lilliput · 15/11/2013 21:11

They seem to have a pretty good no quibble returns so I would send it back.

gd1976 · 16/11/2013 14:24

I have just discovered fab one in sainsburys!! Not bulky, not shiny and not too long and only £40!
