That's lovely lunch and a great price. How warm is it?

out2lunch · 12/11/2013 00:52

soprendo very - its sort of a tweedy feel to the outside looks less dotty in rl.

Don't understand the gilet thing.

When I lived in SE London a lot of the 40 something middle class women would 'dress up' in these. Actually go out to nice places wearing those awful quilted gilets (the sort of women who never wore make up so looked like they were off to work on the farm). I remember a friend of my brother and SIL wearing a green quilted thing to a classical music do and telling us that "Well I thought i would make an effort and get dressed up?????!!!' All that was missing was a headscarf and a collie dog.

What is the point of them - with no sleeves it hardly keeps you warm does it???

GreatSoprendo · 12/11/2013 07:34

Well I wouldn't wear it to be dressed up, that's for sure Grin
But you'd be surprised how warm a gilet can keep you. Not for the coldest depths of winter but great for casual wear for walking or pram pushing in autumn or spring.

I may splash out today.......

cocobongo · 12/11/2013 07:47

"lovely" and "gilet" is surely a contradiction in terms, no? Grin

PrimalLass · 12/11/2013 07:52

They do. I have a Fatface down gilet and it is very warm. For the days I don't want to feel all bundled up.

Deathwatchbeetle · 12/11/2013 07:52

But why not have cover on our arms too??????

FuckyNell · 12/11/2013 08:00

They are awful IMO. Anyway it's a BODYWARMER not a gilet.

Lexis1980 · 12/11/2013 09:42

They are great for horse riding when I need to keep warm but don't want my arms to be too restricted

PrimalLass · 12/11/2013 10:03

But why not have cover on our arms too??????

Because I sometimes don't want to. That's all.

Mosschops30 · 12/11/2013 10:22

I like gilets, but I don't like that one sorry.
Although I can't talk mine is a Superdry one GrinGrin but like you say it's enough in these weird autumn days that are not really cold

Saw a lovely one in white stuff this weekend

NoComet · 12/11/2013 10:24

Well OP, I like it. I wear to many patterned tops for a dotty one, but it's fun and very sensible money.

DDs like giletes for school, they have thick jumpers and blouses, so reasonably warm arms.

Giletes toss on and off quick without selves to get stuck partway inside out (always the problem with jumpers). Consequently they wear them, not toss them over their arm and leave them on the bus.

Collywibbles · 12/11/2013 11:12

Oh dear - I am 40 something, love my gilets and wear them out, I also wear no make-up and have 2 labradors Wink - I'll get my sleeveless coat ....

Bowlersarm · 12/11/2013 11:14

Ooh I love my gilet. I wear it all the time.

Very nice OP.

Deleted post was probably was trying to sell something.

I like gilets / bodywarmers at this time of year; I often wear one shopping because a coat is too stuffy and restrictive in shops, but you need a bit of warmth for the outdoor bits. I have a couple of furry ones and a black one similar to the OP's.

I don't have a labrador, though....

OP, I'm not a polka dot fan, personally, but tis nice to land a bargain.
