Banana Republic? Can anyone vouch for the quality?

I have been scouring the internet (and shops) for a warm, wool winter coat and have finally found one I like in Banana Republic.

The problem is, I have never, ever bought anything from BR in my life and have no idea what the quality is like. Added to that there are no BR stores near me.

So, to anyone who has bought anything from there recently - what is the quality like and does the sizing come up large or small? The coat is £150, which is right at the top end of my budget. But I am willing to pay this for something which will last me for years.... but will this coat fit the bill?

They often have discounts do sign up for their newsletter before you buy.

They also do free returns so you could order both sizes?

Yes excellent. I bought two jumpers in America ten years ago and they are still going strong.

I love their clothes - never been disappointed with the quality / wear. They have, without exception , always been great.

DH buys loads of stuff there and it washes really well and lasts too.

Yes it is good and I was going to mention the discounts. I get emails from them with various discounts at least once a week, plus they do good sales.

Not bought anything in uk from BR but in USA bought lambswool, angora knitwear and other tops and jewellery and yes damned good quality. Esp the knitwear.

Have bought 2 years ago in New York too knitwear and same cannot beat it IMO.

I've been buying from BR since 1999 when I lived in the USA. I have always found the quality very good with one random exception - black knitwear. I have bought various sweaters, cardis etc and have always found that after the first (hand)wash, it fades really badly.
