Has anyone done this successfully - it is grey and I want it to be navy blue ( more flattering!)

Depends what material it's made of? if it's 100% cotton, it will dye beautifully but the stitching on hems will remain the same colour it was originally as the stitching is almost always polyester which doesn't take dye. If the material is a cotton mix, it will dye but will be a faded, marl effect instead of a solid colour. Silk will dye but I believe you have to cold water dye silk and again, the stitching will retain it's original colour. Acrylic and polyester won't dye.

It is 95% modal 5% elastane

This is a brilliant site for info on dyeing:

one of the posters on MNV dyed her Me&Em Ruched dress IIRC but only to a deeper shade of its original tone. I think she said the only place the stitching was an issue was under the arms where it was visible.

i don't know about modal, I've never dyed anything made of that. I'd do some heavy research before you attempt it, I'm sure there will be info somewhere about whether or not it will dye. Perhaps look at the Dylon website to see if there's any info?
