Can we have a Christmas party dress thread yet?

I'm hoping to find a good one on eBay as I hate spending a fortune on a dress I know I'll only wear once.

Any suggestions on good brands to search for on eBay or in the sales? Anyone found the perfect party dress yet?

Depends on your shape I think as to which brands work well on you. I don't have much of a waist and find DVF work well, not the wrap but do love the lace zarita dress. I got one in the matches sale with 70% off.

CareBearWithFangs · 03/11/2013 21:06

I think I'm hourglass. Small shoulders/back/waist. Medium boobs. Bigger bum and hips but not disproportionately so. Don't like to flash too much boob as their a bit deflated since having DD.

I really want to look nice this year. I was still carrying extra baby weight at the last Xmas work do and it's mostly gone now so I'd like to feel confident. I went out last week in an old dress from before DD and it just didn't fit properly and I felt awful all night.

This is my dress. It was expensive but I love it SO much. Bought it in the sale last Christmas and I can't wait to wear it, the fabric is so beautiful. BIG Smile in the Noodlehead household.

I love this dress. But don't know if the colour will suit me and I really shouldn't be spending that much on one dress this year.

Thanks Mrs C-B. It's been in my wardrobe for months now I may have worn it to do the hoovering a couple of times so am happy to have a chance to even if only online.

But not much use for OP! I can't seem to open your link CareBear; try again, and I will happily have a look.

MrsNoodleHead · 03/11/2013 21:21

It's here, CareBear: Alice + Olivia bubble dress.

You should look at Alice + Olivia, they are really good at party frocks. They are spenny but do get quite heavily discounted on The Outnet and Ebay.

CareBearWithFangs · 03/11/2013 21:23

Ooh that's very very pretty. No wonder your excited Smile

I don't know why my link won't work, stupid phone.

That's very elegant CareBear and I really like the colour - in fact it's one I wear a lot.

Well done on getting rid of the babyweight! One thought which occurs is whether you should go for something which shows that off a little more? It sounds as though you have a fab figure.

Ohwhatwitcheryisthis · 03/11/2013 21:33

I like the shift dress one, happy girl.

The strapless ones are lovely too, but I never feel comfortable in a strapless. Always convinced it's going to fall down.

I'll have a look out for you too ohwhat.

I love christmas but I hate the dress finding part.

I've bought a navy blue, Michael -Michael Korrs dress. it's a sleeveless, knee length, shift dress type shape with ruching and draping across the stomach area. it's really nice and was an absolute steal at £15 reduced from £150 Grin

MrsNoodleHead · 03/11/2013 22:19

OneLittleLady: where did you find the Michael Kors dress? Sounds an absolute bargain!

OneLittleLady · 03/11/2013 22:38

House of Fraser outlet in my town. The place is an absolute goldmine for stuff like that.

DisappointedHorse · 03/11/2013 22:45
