Botanics BB cream; tried it- hated it. What next?

old face needs a bit more help these days (50 on Sunday) so bought some of this to even out the blotches etc. Really, really don't like it; horrible greasy texture and if you don't shake the container loads of times it seperates as its coming out. I didn't look dewy in as much corpse like even with just a smattering on. Says to keep away from eyes as well!

So am looking for something lighter (not mineral powder). Years ago I used a tinted matt moisturiser by Rimmel which was fab. Good hint of colour but totally non greasy

Anyone have anything to recommend please?

Have this tube of BB cream in medium if anyone wants it- only used twice?

Oh I'm SO pleased you didn't like it! (sorry) I'm 50 soon and I felt like a ghost in it. It seemed to reflect light from the bottom of my pores so I looked like the surface of the moon Shock

I bought the light one and thought about buying a medium to get rid of the ghost look but clearly not as you've got that one!

I've gone for a compact foundation from Clinique that I put on with a Real techniques face brush to even it out and keep it as a thin layer - I have combi skin though and I don't want dewy.

Hated mineral make-up too - must be an age thing ;)

Good luck!

I'm 54 and love the Boots Intelligent Colour foundation. The texture is amazing, it doesn't feel greasy, it doesn't accentuate lines and just evens out the colour on my face. After years of being disappointed with different foundations it was a revelation for me.

I am nearly fifty and I didn't like it either!

Too orange, too greasy and very wet looking!

I have bought the nivea one and done a review on her because I am that impressed.

From what I can see on the Internet, not a lot of people rave over it but I love it!

It comes in two shades, neither of which are remotely orange, I bought the medium one and I apply with a foundation brush. It is sneered than my foundation so I apply another layer and I now have great coverage as it is buildable. It is a thick texture.

It does smell. Very strong nivea smell. I love it as I like scented products. It doesn't smell once you've applied it!

Once on, it stays on and feels very lightweight, much less than if wearing a foundation.

At only £5.99 it's not a big waste of money if not for you.

I use the botanics bb cream and about a dozen other bb cream disasters on my arms and legs so as not to waste them!

Good idea Sunday, I'll use mine on my décolleté

CharlesDancer · 31/10/2013 09:34

I like the Olay Regenerist one, good coverage and not greasy.

CharlesDancer · 31/10/2013 09:36

Oops, just noticed it's actually a CC cream not a BB cream. I've never understood the difference between the two anyway!

Bunbaker · 31/10/2013 09:38

Will they bring out a DD cream next? I could do with some Grin

I didn't like the Botanics BB either! Too oily for me, I have fairly oily skin.

I loved the Loreal one at first try - wonderful texture, beautiful dewy look - but within an hour it was too oily and after a week it had clearly made my acne much worse.

So I'm back to using the Garnier one - not their standard bb but the one for oily skin. it's not perfect - a little too orange and not as dewy as I'd like - but it stays put, isn't oily and gives good coverage without feeling at all heavy (I hate wearing foundation).

I'm also a big fan of Dermalogica's tinted moisturiser - but it doesn't really give much coverage, just a bit of colour and sheen.

Watching with interest to see if there are other non greasy BBs out there.

Not a bb cream but a tint

www.johnlewis.com/dior-hydra-life-pro-youth-skin-tint/p273769

I bought this to wear on a very hot holiday in Southern Spain this year and it is lovely. I can't wear dior foundations as they are too orange but this is lovely. It stays on and doesn't feel like you are wearing anything but it gives fairly good coverage.

I'm early 40s and my current favourite is La Roche Posay Hydreane BB cream. I need to mix a tiny bit of ordinary moisturiser into it in winter but even 'diluted' it gives a lovely dewy finish and evens out any red bits.

thanks everyone; glad to know I'n not the odd one out !

bunbaker...I bought the Intelligent foundation from Boots and I really like it. Lovely velvety , floatytexture on skin and doesn't look made up at all. Thank you

Still look like old bag but old bag with nicer skin Grin
