Bag experts advise me - is this bag worth it and will I regret it?

I have a few bags - some cheap, some nice but none top of the range.
I have a couple of leather boden bags which I find good quality and value.

A nameless leather Mulberry wannabe from TK Maxx and a v nice Osprey leather.

I wear smart/casual for work and carry make up bag, book, wallet & phones in my bag - laptop etc go in a separate bag.

I have received a bonus from work and I would like to buy something nice for myself as I usually save any extras or spend it on the house or all of us. Gosh, this make sound very spoiled doesn't it? Blush

Anyways - I've had in mind for ages that I would like a really classic lovely lovely bag but I don't want to spend a lot and then go off it - I do tend to swap my bags round quite a lot. If I'm spending a lot I would like it to last and remain stylish. I always had it in mind I would like a classic chanel but I worry it would be a bit bling. Not sure I would like a mulberry as almost everyone I work with has one

This www.harrods.com/product/small-classic-duffle-bag/saint-laurent/000000000003294752?cat1=bc-ysl&cat2=bc-ysl-accessories is what I love - is it timeless? Will I always love it? Woulod you look at it and think "poseur"?

To answer you specifically and in order.

Oh and it's lush, lucky thing :)

IslaValargeone · 28/10/2013 16:23

OOh it's lovely, you lucky cah!
I wouldn't think poseur, it looks classy and understated.

Beeyump · 28/10/2013 16:23

It's amazing Envy
Will you always love the colour though?

BecauseIsaidS0 · 28/10/2013 16:24

It's a classic and not flashy at all, so I'd say go for it.

Beeyump · 28/10/2013 16:24

Not that there's anything wrong with the colour btw!

ElizabethBathory · 28/10/2013 16:27

It's gorgeous and timeless. Worth that much money? Hell no! Though of course you deserve to spend your bonus on whatever you like.

No idea if you'll always love it - if you have to ask us maybe you don't love it quite enough? If you have any doubts I'd keep looking!

jimjamspam · 28/10/2013 16:31

Hmm maybe - I love red but maybe classic black is safer

I'm not leaping into anything as it is a big purchase but I can't spend that much without some opinions!

I don't really like it looks like a doctors bag...

Beeyump · 28/10/2013 16:32

AnyFuckerWillDo that is a good thing, imho...

ElizabethBathory · 28/10/2013 16:34

I love doctor's bags! The colour is great if it's going to go with the kind of colours you usually wear. Black would look good for longer - less risk of marks and stains.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/10/2013 16:37

I didn't think I was 'blingy' but that is too understated IMO.

It's verging on dull and doesn't look like a1400 quid bag, no lush hardware, no interesting leather contrasts.

It's nice enough but I've seen a lot of expensive bags and if I saw that I would think it was a 400 quid bag.

Is there nothing in Anya Hindmarch you like, they have nice hardware, contrasting textures etc?

Apologies if you're looking for very understated Blush

Thants · 28/10/2013 16:38

It's nice but if your spending that much I'd want something more wow. Or for that price get two beautiful bags! One for day to day and one got going out. 550 would still get you an amazing bag.

uptheanty · 28/10/2013 16:39

Just Envy

It's lovely Envy

Have you looked at Amber's blog?
She's found some amazing bags recently.

Chottie · 28/10/2013 16:44

It's lovely and it made from quality leather which will improve with age. It is versatile too and can be used for work and week ends too. Buy it and enjoy it :)

BadgersRetreat · 28/10/2013 18:21

oooh that's lovely

get the red - makes it a bit more special than boring black

Sofiamum · 28/10/2013 18:28

My gran had a bag very similar to this.

Karbea · 28/10/2013 18:33

Lovely!

If you get it from harrods, get a reward card as you'll get free tea for a year ;)

SundaySimmons · 28/10/2013 18:53

I like it. But as others have said, it doesn't look as expensive as it costs!

I do think you could get similar for at least half the price.
