Dealing with roots between colours - any 'shampoos' that will make regrowth less obvious?

My hair coloured light brown and also have foils to add interest and make it lighter with a view to minimising the contrast when the dreaded regrowth appears. My real colour is something close to white.

I have my roots done every 3 weeks and this means that for about 2 weeks I'm happy with my hair, but during that 3rd week I'm not as the regrowth is apparent. I'm really self conscious about this.

I don't have the time, money or inclination to get the roots done every two weeks, but wondering if there's a shampoo or something that I can use to 'colour' the roots but which won't interfere with the root colour my hairdresser puts on. Any ideas?

Do you comb your hair while it's wet? Try to let it dry as much as possible before combing/brushing, as this stretches the hair out and makes roots more visible.

I use Tresemme colour protect and it works quite well, though I'm the opposite to you - I lioghten my hair.

I have just bought Wella Colour Recharge Conditioner having tried a couple of free samples from the salon. It is fab. Had my hair coloured 8 weeks ago and it was looking a bit meh. Natural hair colour is dark brunette with about 30% white through the top). Used the conditioner (together with my usual Aussie Mega Shampoo) and hair looks virtually freshly highlighted. Really impressed.

I couldn't find hair mascara when I looked

Kerstina - I use Cool Blonde. It has eliminated any brassy/yellow tones, lightened my roots & brightened the white Smile

Thanks Ujjayl that sounds very good.I have naturally ash brown hair but I have golden blonde highlights which is only half way down now as it was so long ago so i might try the warm brown.
