I am going to the Trafford Centre and I am thinking of going to a makeup counter for some tips.

Should I get them to do a 'makeover'?

Which counter would you recommend?

I want to look at what colours suit me and what products to use. I am usually really boring, I use foundation and eyeliner.

I always say head to the benefit counter, really quirky products and usually cool staff to, usually happy to do makeovers without the orange effect!!

I always check which assistants look the best and go to their counter. Usually, that's Bobbi Brown.

Bobbi Brown. Would also try and head to Space NK if there is one there for great choice of good brands.

If there's a MAC, I'd go there. I've always had really good advice and help from the MAC staff.

After your makeover, go for a walk and check how you look in other lighting, before committing to buying anything. I've been stung before where foundation looks fine in store, but horrible in natural light.

I am not too keen on Mac as I looked like a drag queen by the time they had finished, I find they do tend to plaster on the make up. Bobbi Brown is great as they have a more natural look. Would do the makeover first thing, get a list of all the products, carry on with your shopping so you have time to see if you like the look, then you can go back and buy the products if you like them.

Any tips for how to walk away without buying? I feel so pressurised!

krankykitty · 24/10/2013 20:17

I always tell them at the start I'm not buying today (even if I am), then there's no expectation
