Help I need cream shoes for a wedding that don't look bridal but still look dressy

I've bought a cream chiffon skirt and turquoise/green bustier from Coast for a wedding. I've searched everywhere for shoes to match the top but have not found any, which means matching them to the skirt, but as the skirt's cream and very chiffony I don't want to look bridal.

any chance of a pic of the top to see the colour? have seen oodles of turquoise shoes recently - Topshop and Next spring to mind. In fact there's a whole Green Shoes Thread here .

If all else fails, strappy sandals are a good bet and never look too bridal even in cream, but you could do gold or silver if not convinced.

If it's the top I think it is, the Topshop ones (under Shop By -> Shoes -> Heels and scroll right a bit) are a pretty good match.

I have recently spent 3 separate shopping trips looking for cream sandals so I know it's not easy.

THere were some good options in Dune. Might be worth a look.

I eventually ended up finding some in a random sale rack in dorothy perkins for a fiver!! And I love them.

Fimbo · 04/07/2006 14:37

John Lewis has lots of Dune shoes on sale atm. (not on line though)

Actually there were some nice ones in Peacocks today- they were like old fashioned tap showes, with ribbon ties but a good high heel and £16. Kinda cute and funky.

Kylie03 · 04/07/2006 14:54

look on ebay they have some really nice ones type cram shoes in search and loads come up

Rhubarb · 04/07/2006 14:59

white doc martens

nailpolish · 04/07/2006 14:59

ebay have great shoes

mummyinred · 04/07/2006 15:04

Thanks for the ideas, I have looked in M&S, DP and top shop (among many others) but the shoes just don't match the top or are wedges or flat and I think with the outfit flats or wedges won't go. The other thing is I don't think I can wear sandals as I'll need to wear tights because I've got quite a few scars around the bottom of my legs. Anyway i've just taken a picture so you have a better idea of what I'm talking about - I can't figure out how to attach the picture though!

another thing you can do is buy plain white satin court shoes and get them dyed to match (you could get turquoise or cream)

MrsBadger · 04/07/2006 15:08

ah - didn't realise had to be closed toes

will keep thinking

nailpolish · 04/07/2006 15:08

what size are you mummyinred?

nailpolish · 04/07/2006 15:09

ive worn tights with sandals

you can get tights that dont have toe seams

nailpolish · 04/07/2006 15:10

this sort of thing?

nailpolish · 04/07/2006 15:13

or this?

nailpolish · 04/07/2006 15:14

here too

FrenchGirl · 04/07/2006 15:18

how about some gorgeous gold shoes?

I love these

mummyinred · 04/07/2006 15:23

Thanks for al your help so far. I'm a size 5. i like those Faith shoes £60 a bit too much though as I probably won't wear again any time soon. There should be somewhere that stocks shoes in every possible colour combination - a new business opportunitry I think. Can anyone tell me how to insert a picture?

tassis · 04/07/2006 15:41

next have cream shoes like the faith ones, I think.

possibly a bit beigey...

MrsBadger · 04/07/2006 15:42

you can only put pictures in Member profiles - just start a new thread there and we'll all come and look

mommie · 04/07/2006 15:42

do you have a Phase Eight near you? They have some lovely ones which I have just bought in black, £80

mummyinred · 04/07/2006 16:06

i've tried some next peep toe shoes in cream but they had a bow on and I felt they were a bit "minnie mouse". i have looked in phase eight but didn't see anything. i've put a picture under member profiles, I think it will help a lot if you see the ouutfit.

i think I'm probably just way too fussy but I want something with a bit of glamour in it but in crean that tends to mean wedding shoes.

Clarks have two pairs, one is on their website (under K shoes owmens BLANCHETT- sorry page won't link). The other isn't there but is in the shops. It's a wedge, satin VERY glamourous and in either a pewter shade or a subtle greeny colour that would work really well I would guess. they are fab, have been drooling over hem for ages. There was a thread a while ago about cartoon shoes, I posted a link on there and will ahve a look.

mummyofeb · 04/07/2006 20:51

I've just bought a pair of gold shoes from Clarks to go with my ivory dress (I'm NOT the bride btw). They 're not closed toe but not Minnie Mouse peepholes either, has an ankle strap.
don't have flash player on my comp so can't provide link. If you pop in clarks, ask for "cluster".
