Anyone know of a stylish wet weather warm coat for the school runs??

Hi,
So, I've just started the school run as my eldest has started nursery - it's not far at all but I also have a 2 year old so it can take forever!!

For wet weather/dog walking I have a short North Face waterproof but it's not warm so I end up bulking up underneath and then my legs get soaked - I have waterproof trousers but all the other mums seem to look really stylish whatever the weather!

So does anyone have any tips for what to wear so I don't look like I'm out trekking but can stay warm and reasonably dry??

Thanks!

Sorry cannot link but like you needed one for the school run. Have a look at Zara. I got the long parker (without fur hood) the last coat i got from there lasted years too.

I have a Merrell Wakefield and an insulated Merrell Ellenwood. Both are knee-length, and I'm 5'10". However, I do wear waterproof trousers if it's really tipping it down. Rather that than get soaked!

There are loads of old and not-so-old threads on this topic if you search the archives. Have a look for one about waterproof bum covering coat, IIRC.

Oh fab! I love both the Zara ones and the Merrell ones - didn't think to search first! That must be how all the other mums know what to wear!!

I've got the Merrell Haven. It's longer on me as I'm only 5'4" and it does the job!

Can you lot tell me what the Ellenwood (or others) are like fit and shape wise? Also puffiness wise?

I like the look of the Ellenwood in blue,it looks nice in pics on its own, looks a little nipped at the waist and others have said they do nip in.BUT on Google images everyone wearing one looks like a sack of spuds!

Oh its like the quest for the holy grail - I've been everywhere looking for a warm waterproof coat but something under £100 appears to be impossible to find!

Have you tried Mountain Warehouse - some of the parkas they have are warm, waterproof and 'fairly' stylish. I'm between sizes so didn't buy..

I've now fallen in love with the Merrell Geraldine..looking for best price now!

I'm wondering the same as I have uber boobies too!

LondonNinja · 22/10/2013 14:19

Merrell Wakefield here - really good coat.

LondonNinja · 22/10/2013 14:21

Got a M as it allows for jumpers and big boobage though I'm pretty slim.

Thanks for all your help!

Have narrowed it down to these two: any thoughts? I'm not sure on Joules as never bought from them so not sure if the Merrell is worth the bit more for being more practical??
