I found boots to fit my huge legs! But should I wear them...

I tried on these boots in m&s yesterday and couldn't believe they did up over my massive calves!

Flat boots

It's making me think that maybe I could wear knee length and long skirts instead of just trousers, although I'm wondering if that would look rubbish as I have huge legs Blush

They do also have a similar boot with a wedge heel, but I couldn't try it as the store didn't stick it and I'm not sure if it would be comfortable enough for everyday anyway ( I don't wear heels normally and have orthotic insoles to fit inside...
wedge boots

I'm in the process of trying to sort out all my clothes post baby as nothing fits / suits me and most stuff is worn out! I'm feeling crappy about how I look, finding the whole thing overwhelming and trying to find a place to start :(

I love the first ones, flat brown boots go with everything.

Not certain about the creasing on the second.

I always feel that the beauty of long boots is a smooth leg lengthening outline.

Hence at 5'4" avoiding jeans into pull on pixie boots, I look like a gnome.

DTisMYdoctor · 21/10/2013 10:46

Not keen on the second one, but as someone with very chunky calves I might just try the first ones. If I can decide on what to wear with them!

Sharpkat · 21/10/2013 10:51

I bought these last year and they are so comfortable.

jennimoo · 21/10/2013 11:53

Glad to hear they aren't terrible looking boots, I don't trust my judgement! And search m&s for stretch zip and you should find the others that might fit. These really are the first I've found to zip up in years.

So what do I wear them with? I'm 5ft7, big legs and saggy tummy, a but of a waist and big chest (massive at the mo as BFing)

Ooh,I'm umming and ahhing over the wedge ones. Not sure though but need wedge ones!

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 21/10/2013 12:01

how big are your calves? I used to wear knee high boots with dresses and skirts at a size 24, my calves were huge then, they are still larger than average now but I think they look fine in knew high boots, still with dresses, thick tights or skirts and thick tights/thin leggings.

duo go up to something like a 50cm and im, guessing the m&s ones are no way near 50cm.

they are lovely boots. I might even order them myself

jennimoo · 21/10/2013 12:56

A quick measure of what I think is the bigger one gives 45cm...

Trip trap - do you mean I need wedge ones rather than flat?

OP posts:
TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 21/10/2013 13:01

No,jennimoo,I need wedge ones with rubber bottom so am pondering them.Just wondering if they're a little frumpy for me (31) as I like sleek boots but big calves and school runs make that tricky lol

Northernlurker · 21/10/2013 13:03

I wear dresses and skirts and my calves are the same size as yours. In leggings or tights it looks fine. If anybody has a problem with the size of my calves then they really, really ned to get a grip.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 21/10/2013 13:04

With big legs hun,a tunic, dress or skirt with a flare will balance out your figure and make your legs look slimmer

gingerbead · 21/10/2013 13:05

Love the first ones!

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 21/10/2013 13:13

that's a good size boot. thanks for that I know they will fit now, save me trip and I can just order online. thank you

newgirl · 21/10/2013 13:19

Great boots - the brown leather for 95

Wear with long denim skirt? Knitted dress? You'll look great

jennimoo · 21/10/2013 13:59

Thanks for all the ideas and comments. The boot I linked to is I think the sane as I tried on, but I tried it in a grey suede as that was all they had in my size. They are generously sized too, perhaps as they are a wide fitting.

Oh these are lovely! Am also chunky of calf....I think I just might go search these out and show DP Grin Grin

jennimoo · 22/10/2013 11:18

I'm wondering if m&s will have one of those 20% off days soon, would really help the cost! Anyone know how often they do those?

If you're quite short with bigger calves like my Mum is, then wearing a long skirt with high boots will shrink you! :P Not a fun look :D

jennimoo · 22/10/2013 14:40

I'm medium height: 5ft7...

These from M&S fit my 49cm calves ... (or calf. One is much more normal Confused ).

jennimoo · 31/10/2013 12:35

I ordered the boots, and the non leather ones half the price, and they're almost identical! Both for my calves just fine.

Still deciding but think I'll probably keep the under £50 ones, then I can always get a short pair too ;)

I have the brown boots from your first link now, but m&s cancelled the black ones as they out of stock Sad as the brown ones are lovely. the elastic panel means that they aren't too loose, and plenty of room for larger calves than mine.

jennimoo · 02/11/2013 09:35

M&s have 20% off footwear. I'm glad I didn't wait though as they've sold out of my size in that boot and loads of the ankle boots I just looked at...
