Anyone buy Johnnie B for themselves?

Looking at the size chart for Johnnie B it looks as though I would fit into their larger sizes (I am a size 8 bottoms/size 10 top and 5'6"). So I thought I might give them a try for basic tops etc.

Does anyone buy from them for themselves? What is the quality like? How generous is the sizing? I love Boden kids clothes as they wash really well and I can hand down from DS1 to DS2. I'm kind of hoping for the same from Johnnie B...

You sound like you are the same size and height as my dd17 . She fits a Johnnie B large perfectly. The sizing is generous and quality excellent.
You will often see in the reviews adults commenting that they have certain items. I have a pair of Johnnie B bootsBlush.

Thanks, that is really helpful.

I hadn't even thought of shoes, wasn't aware until you prompted me to look that they go up to a size 42!

I am size 8 and have a jersey top in size 15/16, it is very roomy so will get a 13/14 next time. Quality seems good, and quite a bit cheaper than the women's stuff!

oxcat1 · 20/10/2013 14:34

Again, a size 8 here. The size 15/16 is too big for me, but I found 13/14 to be too short.

Eventually I found the perfect fit in trousers, with a 25in waist but long leg (and I have ever such stumpy legs!), but length is still a problem in things like dresses and tops.

The only other thing to watch for is that the styling is generally designed for no boobs. I have no boobs (Hmm) but wearing tops with very high neck lines still tends to look a little odd.

The quality is good though, for sure.

Fab. I have just ordered a couple of tops in the sale to try, I went for age 16 as although I don't have huge boobs I have relatively wide shoulders.

I will be delighted if they fit - Boden breton tops for under a tenner!

Let us know what you think when they arrive. I've been tempted but a bit worried that the design looks very boxy and quite short?

impty · 20/10/2013 15:19

Yes the age 15/ 16 was too big for me, but size smaller too short. I am size 8 to 10.

Elsiequadrille · 20/10/2013 15:20

I think 16+ approx equates to a 10/12

Elsiequadrille · 20/10/2013 15:21

I don't wear it, would be too odd as teen DC does.

ElizabethBathory · 20/10/2013 15:22

Yep, I'm a 6-8 and have a few of their 13/14 tops from a while ago. Tried the size down but the proportions were all wrong and definitely child-shaped.

dottyaboutstripes · 20/10/2013 15:29

I have one of those Breton tops, I'm size 10 and I think I have age 15/16. You might find it a little short - it's fine on me but I'm only 5ft 1. The jeans were WAAAAAAY too long for me!

cessie322 · 20/10/2013 16:01

I'm an 8 so was looking at size 13-14 after this thread. My torso is quite long so I'm guessing it might be a mistake to order. Pity, they have some nice stuff.

JemimaMuddledUp · 20/10/2013 16:08

I had a code for free delivery and returns (M990) plus was ordering some bits for the DC, so there is nothing lost if they don't fit. My DC are all still in mini Boden (DD is only 7) so there won't be any issues around us wearing the same thing. I'm quite short in the body and long legged, so am hoping the tops will be long enough.

I have quite a few Johnnie B items. I am an 8-10 top and find the current 15-16 ample. Have bought the pointelle tops in all colours as they're gorgeously soft and lovely. More of a large 10-12 on the bottom and have only ventured as far as to buy the cosy pull-ons - again, 15-16 a good fit there. Am pondering the skinny jeans either in 30L or 32L.

Also got a couple of cotton waffle-knit jumpers in 13-14 (summer sale, they were only a tenner or so) and they are great too.

QueenofLouisiana · 20/10/2013 16:37

I have some of the ballet pumps. I bought them as a holiday shoe- I was still wearing hem 6 months later!

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/10/2013 18:01

The tops came and look great! They are boxy, but I'm quite short bodied and slim hipped so it is a shape that works on me. I could probably have sized down to a 15-16 TBH, but the 16+ is fine.

I might try the jeans next, if I can work out what size a size 8 is.
