Vitamin C hair dye removal...

Ok so I've been really naughty & messing around with colours & colour B4 to an extent where my hair looks the same shade as I started out with & well pretty crap. And a whole lot thinner.

Desperately trying to return to my natural auburn, but not wanting to damage my hair further I thought I'd give the vitamin c method a go. The colour B4 did work, only re-oxidised ( or whatever) & my hair went dark again. Anyway, so after watching many you tube vids & blogs I got some vit c tablets & set about experimenting in my lab kitchen.

Clarifying shampoo and vitamin c, a froffy mix. Slapped on damp hair wait for an hour. Didn't expect anything. But I was pleastantly surprised! This actually worked! I can actually see auburn hair! Wowsers! I think if I give this another go, I might actually get back to the colour B4 shade.

Don't know how long it will last or if indeed it will re- oxidise, but for now, not bad going. I will get there! Has anyone else tried this method before?

Are you me?! Grin
I did it last night in prep for going magenta red this week!

Did it work for you, goodasitgets?

Think I may do a second application in a couple of days.

Mainly. The bottom part of my hair is still darker but its 4 month old dye so I wasn't expecting miracles!

My hair has never recovered from color B4. I too am natural red but my hair has turned green! I can't get dye to stick anymore. Seriously its been over a year since I used colour b4 and my Hair is still wrecked.

I've been using red colour mouse from Sally's at the moment as it gives good colour but it does wash out.

I will look into vitamin C for hair. Does it really work? Where do you even get liquid vitamin C?

I used those dispersable vit c tablets and crushed them up in shampoo

working3jobs · 16/10/2013 21:25

is the colour B4 the stuff that takes dye out?
would shampoo and vit C without the colour B4 do anything?
am toying with going natural, just to see how grey I am!
though everyone has looked at me horrified when I have mentioned it!

working3jobs - yes colour b4 is the colour stripper stuff. But I found out today the vitamin C & clarifying shampoo mix works quite well and has to be kinder for the hair?

pumpkinette - just like goodasitgets said, it's those vitamin c tablets crushed to a fine powder & mixed with a clarifying shampoo. I would say it lifted the medium brown out and is definitely more lighter/auburny. However, hubby hasn't noticed - but he never notices when I do anything different to my hair & I've have had my hair pulled back in a clip anyway!
