Clinique Chubby Sticks lip colours - anyone use them?

Jemimapyjamas · 15/10/2013 22:29

Am tempted (especially when browsing Ebay pissed...) Like quite sheer colours and also get quite dry lips. Tried Revlon lip butter but wasn't keen but am trying to make more of an effort (easy effort) as feel like a fat frump!
Opinions from RL users would be great, thank you!

I do.
Like the newer 'intense' colours, particularly chilli.
Used mega melon in summer and super strawberry.Great yo have in handbag for quick touch ups

ColouringInQueen · 15/10/2013 22:33

yep I have hibiscus - great for a quick burst of intense colour and not drying either.

Beamur · 15/10/2013 22:34

I got a free one in one of their lovely goody bags. Feels nice on and was a flattering colour. Haven't bought another tho as I'm not much of a lippy user.

Jemimapyjamas · 15/10/2013 22:37

So, recommended then? Not a massive lippy user either but these seem a good 'happy medium'

I love them! I hate the feeling of lipstick and lip gloss so they are perfect; really light and moisturising. I use Heaping Hazelnut which is a nice sheer nude, and the strawberry one as its quite 'pinky' and natural. Apart from normal lip balm I don't use anything else.

SundaySimmons · 15/10/2013 23:20

I have quite a few. I like them. But I think the Revlon and Bourjois ones are better in terms of staying power.

I also have a no 7 one which is more glossy and a lovely shade of pink.

Regarding the clinique ones, one of the shades I pointed out to the assistant and mentioned that whilst it was a lovely colour, you would would have to be brave to wear the purple one. She suggested I try it and I thought it would give me 'heart attack' lips but it actually is a very pleasant shade, much more subtle than the packaging looks!

scarlet76 · 15/10/2013 23:23

Another fan. I have the two ton tomato which is a really wearable red shade. I also have the Hazelnut one which is a flattering neutral.

grants1000 · 16/10/2013 00:16

Yes I have the purple, not at all dark, great shade. I need another ASAP

MrsDavidBowie · 16/10/2013 07:04

I thiught they were quite drying.
Dd now has mine.

kerstina · 16/10/2013 09:07

I love them you have to reapply often though. Mega melon is nice and bright but my favourite is wholelottahoney. I bought heaping hazelnut by mistake too wishy washy for me.

easypeeler · 16/10/2013 09:12

They are sheer but really comfortable, think of them as a lip balm with colour. I bought Bountiful Blush twice - one for home and one for my handbag as it's a perfect pinky-brown to me.

Housewife2010 · 16/10/2013 13:03

I love the Super Strawberry for a natural look. If you fancy the sets of mini ones though, just be aware that those ones contain very little product.

RachelCMumsnet · 16/10/2013 16:42

Hi Jemimapyjamas and other glossy-lipped posters,

Sounds like this is a resounding hit; lips at MNHQ suddenly seem rather dry and drab in comparison. We were wondering if you'd write a review, to let more Mumsnetters know about it?

If you don't mind, we'd love it if you'd go here and click the 'add a review' button.

Thanks very much.

TigOldBitties · 16/10/2013 16:55

I like these but agree that bourjois and revlon are equally good and often available as 3 for 2 in Superdrug.

I also like the chubby sticks for eyes.

barleysugar · 16/10/2013 17:01

I have the intense one in hibiscus, it's the perfect coral, which is so difficult to find in a lip colour usually.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/10/2013 17:20

Not a Clinique but I have an M&S Autograph lippie in a twist up 'pencil' .
I got Damson which is nice and rich - and very soft, smooth texture.

(I just fancied something sleek and classic to whip out of my bag)

DontMentionThePrunes · 16/10/2013 17:22

I just bought the Broadest Berry one: it's very intense and smooth, I really like it.

Grotbagstwin · 16/10/2013 17:25

I love mine, I am only just starting to wear lipstick, Butvthese are lovely, I have the Strawberry, Melon and Tomato, the mega melon is a great colour and apparently the best seller as it suits most people.
Going to try the intense ones next.

TigOldBitties · 16/10/2013 17:38

I just had to go and look at the ones I have, currently its Roomiest Rose, Grandest Grape and Plushest Punch. I usually wear bright lipsticks but their Mightiest Maraschino really didn't suit me.

May get the Hibiscus.

I hope this year they do the christmas gift set of them again.

Liveinthepresent · 16/10/2013 17:42

I looked at the eye ones today - how do they fare?

fififolle · 16/10/2013 18:59

I have a couple of the lip ones and they're fab. Just bought lots of latte and moss in the eye ones and I'm really pleased with them. They're easy to apply and last well. Lisa Eldridge has just posted a 3 min smoky eye video using v similar.

MotherOfSoupDragon · 16/10/2013 19:13

Yes, I use mine every day, it's nice and light, moisturising.

TigOldBitties · 16/10/2013 19:18

I like the eye ones, don't know if I would say they last all day but they go on nice and light then can easily be built up. You can blend them out with your finger or a brush really easily. Good for a quick fix.

I do wish they were a bit more pointed though as I like to take my eye shadow underneath the outer corner of the eye into the middle and the nib is a bit too rounded for this.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 16/10/2013 19:29

I have a few they are fab. I really dislike lipstick as find it heavy and usually too heavily perfumed.

These are a good in between liostick and gloss.

I also have a rimmel one thats good too. Ive gone from nevrr wearing lip colour to wearing it everyday.

SELondonSwede · 17/10/2013 06:35

Yes I use mine daily and love it! I got it free from selfridges in the super strawberry shade and its beautiful.

I also use the NARS ones but they are more work. Better cover as more pigment but harder to get right.
Clinique i can use on the tube to work and looks instantly polished. My make up routine these days is on the tube and I mostly use things that are on the go friendly. Compacts, blusher sticks etc and these fit the bill perfectly.
Need eye ones too
